I don't agree. SML will beat Mondo over 400 but it will be epic. SML 47-high to 48-low, Mondo 48-high at best.
Top short sprinters - and I agree Mondo is seriously fast out of the blocks but he's not even a 200m guy - rarely extend beyond 200 unless that's their regime. Linford Christie and Carl Lewis for instance, both at low-47 for 400 despite their 9.8s for 100 and 19.7/20.0 for 200. Mondo has zero conversion and will struggle for 21-low at 200 with a total collapse after that.
Sadly I doubt SML has the sense of fun needed to go for it vs. Mondo. Despite her trash talk last year SAFP bottled out when it became evident Mondo would smoke her.
Maybe the DL organizers could make Syd's DL Final participation contingent on victory over Mondo in their 400m duel the preceding day.
Mondo would walk Sid in a 4.
10.3 > 21.2 > 47low
No way she is close to 47low. Mondo has the strength and clearly the speed. To think he can only do 48high is delirious. He could run that as a soph in HS. Mondo by +.5sec if not more.
This^^ I guarantee Mondo knows about what he can run in the 400
Even at the Olympics Femke won the popularity contest, since the mixed 4x400 went way more viral than Sydney's wins.
Wrong
The women's 4x400 where Sydney ran 47.7 has more views on YouTube than the mixed 4x400
The cope is hilarious though
Bol got smoked but she won the popularity contest
As Jay Z said, "moral victories are for minor league coaches"
Women's 4×400m has 450k on the Olympics channel and 500k on Eurosport. Mixed 4×400 has 800k on the Olympics channel and 1.5M on Eurosport. So it's not even close
The only reason for the 100m against Karsten is because it's the only one where they both had a shot. In no other event besides pole vault would Duplantis have won. Also Karsten's 100 is pretty average on that level (what race against Rai could possibly work?) A 5k? Against Sydney the 400m is again the least unfair option. He'll likely lose but in anything under, except hurdles, and all field events, he wins, and anything over he' ll probably lose. Unless again something like a 5k since over might be too long for both. Not sure if they ever jog that in training during off season. Correct me pls.
Duplantis vs Bolt in the 100m perhaps? Duplantis against Ingebritsen in a 300m? Or a Duplantis vs Ronda Rousey grappling match? Or what about Duplantis vs Simone Biles for most consecutive backflips? Or Duplantis vs Shawn Strickland performing Barbie Girl (in costume)? The possibilities are infinite and lucrative.

Here's an interesting 400m race scenario. Quincy Hall gets a 75-100m head start, but has to run backwards, Warhol runs 400m hurdles in his lane but has to wear a dress since he bailed on wearing the Swedish kit in zurich after losing to Mondo, and the rest run 400m (Sydney, Jacob, Hocker, Kerr, Holloway, Crowser, Biden, Trump). I'd pay to see that race.
1) women vs. men competitions tend to devalue women's sports. I don't need to hear people claiming "she's not that great; she lost to a pole vaulter" or whatever
2) These things are way more fun when they are neither competitor's main event.
I want:
Tebogo vs. Kipchoge at 800m (maybe 1500m?) Hassan vs SML at 800m Jacob vs Noah Lyles at 500m? (they both have to wager their entire egos) Bekele vs Bolt at 400m Kipyegon vs Chebet at 1500m swim Valby vs Tuohy at 100 miles
Feel free to pick winners!

Why did the horse get a jogging start? Of course the horse would win under that condition. The only thing that would make it interesting would be a still start, and the horse would still probably catch up.

To be fair the 400m flat is not Sydney's main event, she's only run it a few times and never while in peak shape.
Hassan on the other hand has run the 800m 17 times at international meets, including a 1:56.81 in 2017.
But I agree with men vs women being a bit less fun.

But that's for someone who has done some long sprint workouts or been thrown on the 4x4 a couple times. Other than a jogging warmup, has Mondo run further than 100 meters at time since high school? I wouldn't think a pole vaulter even does repeat 200's.
