Imagine improving more between age 26 and 27 than in any other year of your entire career, since you were a college runner or actual child.
Taking of 6.5 seconds in one season, after improving by an average of 1.1 seconds per year over the prior four years, training and competing as an elite in numerous fast rabbited races?
It’s called a plateau before a big breakthrough. There are many examples of this in the sport, see Tual in the 800 this season for example.
The usual cause of a plateau is incorrectly applied stimuli, also known as doing the same training year after year.
The usual cause of a breakthrough is a new training stimulus. In Hull’s case, she properly applied an under distance stimulus for the first time.
Prior to this, her training had been endurance focussed. This can be confirmed by the lack of 800s and numerous 5000s in her recent performance history. The last season she ran multiple 800s was 2019 at Oregon.
ROFLMFAO. Amidst many years constant elite coaching and testing, elite training partners and access to race perfectly tailored to run faster, she ran very nearly the same thing five years in a row, with incremental improvements typical to elite mid-distance runners in their late 20s (if they are fortunate).
Thank goodness we have you to explain the concept of a "plateau" and a "big breakthrough." Reality check: she wasn't on a "plateau"; she was steadily and plausibly improving. Though she certainly did have a "big breakthrough" and quite possibly a "new stimulus" 😆😆😆😆😆
As well as being accused of doping all over these boards precisely for his rapid improvement, Tual's progression is NOTHING like Hull. He ran 1:44 three years in a row, then came to 1:41. Also WILDLY suspicious, but different in obvious ways.

It's also loaded with speculation that turns out to be extremely substantiated.
USADA announced today that two independent three-member panels of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) rendered their decisions in the cases of Alberto Salazar and Dr. Jeffrey Brown, determining that each should receive...

I'm pretty sure a progression of ~3:57 to ~3:50 in a couple of months is plenty sufficient proof that something is off with the australian jess hull. Then again you must be a team member of the ausie propaganda machine, what you'd call PR, trying to pull wool over our eyes.
such a 'progression' is well above the natural talent of a mediocre runner such as hull.
This obsession with tearing Jess down is tiresome. Yes we all know by now that there's a bunch of USA folk who think she's doping. Good for you, no need to waste energy making posts about this and hijacking other posts.
Then there's others like myself who don't believe she's doping. Many of us are well informed with how her training has radically changed since the Pete Julian days and how in 2023/24 they completely focussed in on speed and strength for the 1500. She took about 3 or 4 seconds off her 800m PB which is a huge change. She was probably off her 5km PB-shape by a fair way as she was not training the 1500/5000 systems. She changed her gym routine. Her team is Jess + male pacers and every session is tailored to Jess. She wasn't sick or missed a session in all of 2024. She dropped a few kg.
This all adds up to a breakthrough. It completely checks out for me. If it doesn't for you, fine, but constantly badgering the rest of us with it is just petty and weird.

It is tiresome. Thanks for all that info. I knew she said she hadn’t been sick or injured this year and not missing a chunk of training makes a big difference. Many others have. Even Faith.
I could see she was stronger - her physique looks more honed. I think what you say about the speed work is interesting as that obviously hasn’t been her strength in the past. She’s also a very good 3k/5k runner. So to really focus on speedwork and 800s (which she hasn’t traditionally run) must have helped.
