I haven't made that kind of mistake but what I was addressing was his attitude, in which he posted a thread to simply p*ss on Kerr. It was partial juvenile cr*p and he exposed it with his comment about the medals, which he got wrong.
But also to your point, I frequently get addressed in the fashion you object to. I don't have a problem responding in kind when that happens.
Didn't realize this "Kerr got screwed by Jakob" narrative was taking hold.

I just rewatched the race and Kerr couldn't have asked for a better setup (perfectly paced by Jakob and Tim).
Kerr couldn't get around Jakob with 180m to go and that's on him. Hocker got himself in a good position. If Kerr had the goods, he had every plausible chance of gold. As it is, he ran out of gas and was lucky to get silver.
Still a tremendous accomplishment, winning such a silver. But ironic to hear the Kerr following suddenly succumbing to excusitis

nope. kerr studies every jakob video that you can find on youtube. based on this data, kerr should've predicted that jakob was going to lean right in the final stretch, so kerr should've stayed on the inner lane like our true american hero COLE HOCKER. run smarter, not harder.
Kerr underestimated the Americans. Anyone who saw the semi's and the ease they felt after 3:31's or Cole who looked like he was almost on a tng run, knew the Americans would be a force to recon with. Kerr will never again win a race down to kickers with Cole or Yared present. Jakob will still win races going at break knew speed, but Kerr after a year of talk has to bow to good ole yanks :)

His point was pretty much the same as yours, given he was replying to an idiot who claims Kerr has to share a bronze medal with Nuguse even though he finished ahead of him.
You don't know that Nuguse would have won if he had kicked 2 meters earlier. Kerr relaxed as soon as Hocker got past him. Nuguse was on the point of collapsing immediately after the finish line. If Nuguse had kicked '10 meters' earlier, perhaps he would have died before he even got close to Kerr. The fact is, he didn't finish fast enough to catch Kerr. It's funny how after Tokyo, nobody kept repeating that Kerr would have pipped Potato Tim for silver if he had kicked a little earlier.
I'm not a Hocker fan but just imagine what we were spared. If Kerr had won there not only would have been non stop elevation of his race model vs Jakob but we would be bombarded with articles about his sacrifice, and diet, and team of specialists, and coaching, and the brilliant 6 year plan.
