I actually think this is pretty interesting. If the Chinese swimmers are doping, they're really doing a heck of a good job to test clean in their hundreds of tests over the past year. That would be almost Lance level, but of course the tests are much better nowadays.

Agreed. It seems reasonable that they would initially focus their efforts on testing in countries that had no testing of their own. Having said that we should absolutely scrap the likes of the USADA, the idea that a national doping body can police its own athletes is laughable. Something like the AIU is going to be the only path forward for athletics, but they are going to need 10x the budget they have now to police the entire world.

There are a lot of PEDs out there, they don't all make you look like a bodybuilder or give you acne. Knighton ran a 19.49 for the 200m as an 18 year old, think about that for a little while. Then think about the fact that he could barely get within half a second of that time at the Olympics this summer now as a 20 year old.

To me, the entire case is suspicious. He tested positive for trenbolone, and extremely anabolic steroid virtually guaranteed to put on a large amount of muscle to his frame that a sprinter doesn’t need. It has very extreme effects, and bodybuilders has spoken anecdotally about the paranoia, fits of rage, and even bizarre sexual behavior that has resulted from trenbolone.

What I’m saying is that trenbolone is a very strange drug for a sprinter to take, and there is a good chance this is incidental contamination. I don’t know why anyone would when there are much less risky options readily available.

Sadly, Knighton may be a victim of the current war between USADA and WADA.

I don’t see any of those things on Knighton. Trenbolone would have an immediate and pretty profound effect. It’s a weird choice and that’s why I doubt this entire thing.

Again, to recall: USADA wanted him banned, WADA hasn't said anything decisive yet, and the AIU has appealed. Your point?

Why am I not surprised that it's Travis Tygart and the USADA once again shielding an American doper? Knighton might just be yet another one of Tygart's "protected" ones that he gives immunity to dope, just like other cases we know about.

I still think its just time to make a list of allowed peds. EPO, etc and let them use in public. The Jams are obvious as are most US runners, spain, eth, ken etc.. They are already using in the NCAA and not being tested, its time to acknowledge that and realize that testing is a farce/failure! NFL MLB NCAA NHL FIFA TENNIS do very very little testing. Time to acknowledge that we cannot stop it.

Lyles looks pretty normal to me. I can go down to my local basketball court, gym and track and find guys with more impressive looking musculature than Noah Lyles.

I have to wonder what kinds of people you all see on a regular basis. Thompson is certainly a big, strong guy, but again, if you walk down any city street in a developed country you see people who look like this on a regular basis. People who look like this typically achieve this build in their early to mid twenties.

I find Thompson's progression unlikely/suspicious and running that fast at that size is truly unique, but the idea that his physique in and of itself is uncommon at his age is a joke. Unless the only people you see day to day are famished distance runners, I don't know how you could come to this conclusion. Have you all never been around even moderately athletic male human beings??

I can name a few. You have very strange, deeply distorted ideas about what bodybuilders look like if you think Ta-Lou, Clark, Bowie (R.I.P), Neita, DAS, etc, I could go on, look anything like bodybuilders.

Yes but the substance in question could give one pause. If the substance in question was unhelpful or even detrimental to your performance...I'm not saying, on its own, you could use that to acquit but it could a reasonable part of a defense.

Why would he test positive? If he knew he was taking something fail a whereabouts you get 3 strikes at it, appeal one of them you get 4. If you do get banned for whereabouts you can be like Christian Coleman and get a 2 year ban and act like nothing happened.
