She passed someone with a 28:54 PR. Would you do that if you were her? I would feel kind of foolish. She was neither competing with her, or running at a high level.
the field needed to get moving.
But she didn't really push the pace much. She was in front for a short time and then got swallowed up so she had to work her to the outside again. Expended a lot of energy for no real gain.
And the comparing the move with Rooks is not relevant. Rooks made his move on the final lap to put himself in position for a medal.

Would you risk getting 11th to improve your odds from 0% to a 1% chance at an Olympic medal?
Or would you be paralyzed by fear, settle for 9th, and regret being a coward for the rest of your life?
Remember - you get NOTHING from being 9th, and NOTHING from getting 4th.
An outstanding result, 1 place higher than Nico in the men's 10k.
She ran a gusty race, tried to take the lead at one point. She probably made a couple too many moves that tired her a little by the end, but you have to give her credit for running for a medal instead of just 9th place.

That would be 0% to 0%. There was nothing logical about her trying to take the lead and I would chalk it down to a lack of experience.

She had no chance for a medal and it made no sense for her to briefly take the lead.
She ran her race and if the pace dictates its time to go to the front so be it, she was running against the clock, not the field.
Yes. You answered your own question. You don't understand running at a high level.

Ahhh, you would feel foolish…
No, you don’t even have a clue what you would feel, because you aren’t an elite runner so will never be in that situation.
You sure post a lot for having such stupid takes. 🤡
Well it’s a good thing that they were in the same race!
🤡 durrrrrrrrrrrrrr
the title of the thread struck me too. Why pit great runners against each other. Also the claim is ridiculous. Did the top 12 women all break the previous Olympic record like the mens race including Nico? NOPE. So very dumb comparison and conclusion. How about just say great job Valby- she hung in there and was pretty close to seasoned vet Karissa.
