Hiltz solid but in the arms for the close of that one. Nothing wrong with that, it was 3:56 but not gonna medal i don't think. Would be thrilled to be wrong.

Hull and Tsegay looked capable of 3:50.
Were we watching the same race? Tsegay does not look like she can go much faster than she just did.

No, not Tsegay. Welteji looked great. Tsegay looks totally cooked (see: 5000m final)
Oh that awesome pacer for all the major 1500m events (and others) for years was in the first heat of the semis for the 1500m ?!
Esther Guerrero
She didn't make the cutoff though? She was 7 and only the first 6 make it?
That's a real shame. Maybe something will happen to get her in.
34 years old and missing Olympic final by a dip at the finish line, such a shame
Actually I think she ran a personal best in that semi just now?!

I got my runners mixed up, meant Welteji

3:55.10 for a SEMI? Damn.
3:56.69 just to Q. wow.
10 runners in 2nd heat faster than winner of 1st heat
Hull is just far too happy smiley for my liking.

Now that WA has changed the rules, and there are no more time q's, this really puts an emphasis on racing people, not just going after a time.
There are TWO of these threads going. I don’t like bouncing between them. Please delete whichever one is illegitimate/unofficial

you'd rather see her scowling and unhappy????????????
She just ran a completely under control 3:55 to finish 2nd in an Olympic semi, and looks to be a real threat for a medal. She can smile all she wants.

The other started first, it seems. So, let's all move over there

Got it
I have a feeling that Welteji would medal but not Tsegay. She didn't look that comfortable in the semis
1500m final is gonna be insane. I'd say Kipyegon / Hull probably the easiest picks for gold/silver. As an American, I'd love to see ESP snag a medal. As someone who grew up running in CIF-CCS in the early 2010s, I'd REALLY love to see Hiltz snag a medal. But again, it's gonna be crazy -- feels like ESP, Hiltz, Welteji, Muir, and Bell are all serious medal threats. Tsegay too if she's not toast from the 5000s.
Think you’re gonna need a 3:53 to medal. Not sure Hiltz has that. ESP might if she’s not leading.
Jess said in her post race interview after Prefontaine that she thinks it'll take 3:52 to medal here. Looking pretty accurate
I know it is just his act and he is probably a nice person, but Lyle's antics annoys me. It looks very forced, unlike bolts.
Tobogooooooo!!!! Lyles needs this humbling! First ever 200m gold for Africa!
