Jakob is an extraordinary 5k and 10k runner who, given his ambition to never lose, should not be running the 1500 since he will generally be out kicked by one or more in an elite field. Would Lasse Viren or Yifter be running the 1500? No, and neither should Jakob, despite his vast talent
He has to change his tactics. The world has caught on and he can't front run his way to gold every year with fields of this quality. Let someone else take it for the first K and then push from 600 out, El G style.
Note that his front running has never produced gold. In Tokyo, he didn’t front-run…. Timothy took it hard from the gun and Jakob sat till the final 100m. Not that he could rely on his kick to produce gold, but I think the notion that his front running is ‘not working anymore’ is a false notion… it never has worked.

Of course letting someone else lead doesn't guarantee victory, but it gives him a fighting chance after he has gone 0-3 in the last three global championships as the front-runner.

If he goes with 600 - 800 to go, I think the same guys will kick by him. You need speed to be successful at 1500m. There is no way around it.

Not a pure 1500m. Never was. Less likely to ever lose at 2k, 3k, 2mile.
5000m is the top of his range and he probably as beatable there as he is at 1500m.
Jacob reminds me of Pre. Steve thought himself a miler, but his coach recognized he had more potenial at 3 mile/5000m. I think Jacob should concentrate on the 5000m.
