St. Pierre also blew away Hull in the indoor worlds 3000 and at the Millrose mile. They also ran the 3000 at NB Indoor Grand Prix where Hull just beat her in St. Pierre’s first race back.
But the Hull that lined up today looked hungrier and leaner than the Hull that lined up at Indoors.
The objective for these top notch pros was to peak for Paris this year. Can Hull sustain this form, now?
You think that ESP won't be hungry and lean in Paris. The Perfect Storm is brewing....
It's like take that! Looks like Elle St Pierre should reconsider 5k. With times like that she might not make the final.
I am reading this differently. We have not yet seen tapered ESP. She fron ran 3:55.9 at the end of a grueling trials double. You guys can call me crazy, but I believe ESP has a shot to challenge Kipyegon for the gold. We have not yet seen ESP full throttle in the 1500, with no other events and fully tapered. I could be wrong, but I think she might win.

Terrible take. She can medal in the 1500. No chance in the 5000.
ESP ran 3:55 while leading the whole thing. I think she's in 3:53 shape at the worse.
ESP raced Hull at Pre and Hull beat her by just .03.
This race is the worse news for Hiltz than ESP. Hiltz has an unreal kick but she's a 3:55 woman all out being dragged to the time. She doesn't want the Olympic final to be super fast.
I feel the same about ESP, but what do you make of Hull’s new time? I mean that is just enormous for 1,500 at this level. Hull has been in many stretches with ESP to the tape but that is just a different level I’ve ever seen from Hull. Ever. Did Muir have a similar improvement or was it just Hull? I don’t know what to make of it. Just jaw dropping!
Unless you're just trolling, it's meaningless to compare ESP's time in the finals of the 1500, where she simply needed to finish top 3, and was racing on tired legs from the preliminary rounds PLUS the 5K. And $100 says that FK is doped to the gills. While I agree that a 3:55 is not going to medal at Paris (I'm guessing 3:52 might get you 3rd), you can't write her off.

A post expressing optimism for success of one of our top female runners with reasoning to back it up and 4 down votes. That sounds about right. When she challenges for gold in Paris, these same people will scratch their heads and start the doping allegations. It has been clear since Millrose that ESP was preparing for more than the trials. After what she did at the trials, if you can't see that she is a contender for gold, then you aren't paying attention.
The Olympics will have rounds and no pacer. However, PBs indicate ability. And this close to the Olympics has to be a reality check. Yet, are you aware that she's a farmer? And that Muir is a vet?
ESP is also obviously doping, so is definitely devastated as there is nowhere left to turn. I hope she overcompensates trying to overcome the talent deficit and gets caught in Paris. This sport needs a few big takedowns and a hard reset like cycling got.
I think St Pierre has a good shot at a medal, provided she runs brave. It won't come down to a kick, so anyone hanging in the pack and hoping the leaders come back to them will see a re-run of Eugene 2022, which was embarrassing for the field. St Pierre needs to drop the hammer from the gun and go with the group of Kipyegon, Tsegay, Hull, and Muir. Of all the Americans, I think she's most likely to go with it.
3rd after the 5k race plus leading the whole way to a PR. You obviously know nothing about track and shouldnt be allowed to have internet in your mothers basement
St. Pierre ran 3:55 after 2 5K's, 2 1500 rounds, and while leading the whole time.
Not crazy to think she could run as low as the high 3:51's today.
Sticking with the 5K wouldn't have done her much good, in that case she would have to compete with runners who can basically run her 5K PR twice in a 10K.
She could definitely still medal in Paris. No chance at gold, but definitely a medal shot.
