I don't think you can overestimate him - he has two medals from the world championships and of course the biggest title you can win in the event. It was a different era of 1500m racing and he was a different 1500m runner to what works the best now - he was no threshold monster like the majority of these guys but at the time he didn't need to be. He certainly was no one-hit wonder.
