how the hell did she recruit Rai and Michael Norman. I congratulate her and think she's a good hire, but I don't appreciate the fluffing people are doing to her resume. Her press release had so much fluff too (currently coaches Rai and Sydney?; coached at USC from 2017-2024 when we know there were mutliple breaks from USC in that time frame?) I also know she has never been an active recruiter, not much travel to recruit or visits, etc.
she's an amazing hurdles coach, but the hard part of building of a successful program is not the coaching but the management part. managing a program requires a lot of work, business mindset, strong staff, and good foresight. Which is why you'd usually see some with at least associate head coach experience being given director roles. ucla's definitely taking another risk with her, but I do think she can rise to the occasion

She didn’t recruit them. They went to USC for the actual head coach. She’s a watch holder who spent the majority of her coaching as a volunteer.

This is ridiculous. She was one of the coaches that recruited Rai Benjamin and Michael Norman at USC, and helped assemble one of the most talented quarter mile rosters i've seen in years recently. She is a knowledgable, experienced, and talented coach who will bring the UCLA track and field program back to greatness. There is a shocking amount of negativity, with many points of contention that are completely unsubstantiated. At a certain point, you have to wonder how much of it is resentment from failed college coaches towards a successful black woman in a position of leadership.
It has nothing to do with her being a black woman; it's antisprinterism.

I hope she does very well, there is no reason UCLA and USC should not be Powerhouses in Track and Field, California is a Goldmine of Talent, Great Weather Year Round, History of Great Teams and Individuals, Get the Top Californians and Recruits from everywhere will want to come.

Well I think she has the sprint and hurdles coaches there at the university now. They went out and recruited California well and got a few sprinters from Texas.

This is a problem for most schools. UCLA hasn’t been at the top for a long time now and changing coaches won’t help. The Administration has been screwing all sports for some time now. I’m not saying UCLA has had earth shattering coaches hired but how many times can they keep hiring new staff. It’s time to looked at the people behind the coaches.

Besides UCLA having an absolute joke of an AD you’re correct. The main problem is no Football NIL. With no Football NIL means no T&F NIL. UCLA won’t be a national power if they don’t keep up with the Jones’s. It won’t matter who they hired as their new Head Coach

Sports have traditionally been good at UCLA. This newer AD since 2020 is completely bombing. Can’t imagine him lasting much longer.

That’s because the AD was a DEI hire. That basically means the best person didn’t get the job. When you hire because of race or sex it’s a perfect way to get the wrong person for the job. It’s actually racism
