Glad Kimaiyo is in tomorrow, idk but I feel like he could really surprise here. He was dominant at nationals while leading a lot and surging but still had enough for a big last lap.
I wonder why Kipkirui Sang wan't here and not picked for African Champs either. Does he have enough tests? I would have thought he does. WU20 makes sense to be the goal for him now
Yes Kimaiyo has the potential to make it interesting! They’d have to get him on a plane really quick to hit a sub-13:05. Kipkirui Sang i think might be tests because I remember reading the explanation they didn’t say anything about not hitting a necessary time. Big odd considering his pedigree, but possibly it is a narrow miss on timing.
Yep I thought if Ebenyo was there he might go for the standard. Kind of forgot but Kimeli ran 13:02 at the last trials with Ebenyo at 13:05. Now looks like it'll likely be slower. Meeting de Braga in Portugal on 22 June might be the best 5000 opportunity
Men's 5000 gets things underway, quite an interesting field there. With standard: Krop, Kurgat, Kiplangat, Masai, Kemboi, Kwemoi. Then Kipkirui returning from likely injury after looking great most winter.
10 in the men's 800, I'm wondering who will lead through the bell, maybe Wanyonyi decides to take this fast, I don't think that would be a bad plan necessarily. Let's not forget Kelvin Loti - 1:44.07 last year and rounding into nice shape, I think he trains with Brian Komen. Given day 1 I feel like someone other than Wanyonyi, Kinyamal, Kemei, Ngeno will make it as a surprise
Ejore made the trip over for the women's 1500 might be fighting Jebitok and Mary Ekiru for the final spot behind Kipyegon and Chepchirchir.
Men's steeple has all the big names with a couple Ugandans too including Worlds finalist Leonard Chemutai
Ebenyo out, but I feel like the 5000 isn't that different than the 10000 but less likely to factor if he made that team. Good to see Etir in. No Andrew Kiptoo or Emmanuel Kiprop
As for Ebenyo there was this other guy 12 years ago who also left the Eugene Kenyan trials 10000 disappointed then surprisingly also didn't make the 5000 team in Nairobi. He moved to the roads, think he did pretty well...I certainly wish Ebenyo the best in the future, he's easy to support, seems a genuinely nice guy
Oh yes, move to the roads and eventually a sub 2 marathon
Both Moraas make it but Lilian Odira massive kick to make this a complete stunner with 1:58.26 woman Vivain Kiprotich missing out. All under qualifying mark I believe.
Mary Moraa will need to run much faster than that to challenge Hodgkinson and Mu. Do we think she’s not in as good form this year? Or people getting wise to her tactics.

She was trying to help her sister (or is it cousin?) qualify. She knew a top 3 was all she needed. The winner, Lilian Odira, looks like she's good enough to make the final if the heats fall correctly. Impressive considering she's coming from pregnancy.

Ah ok I didn’t realise. Yes impressive coming back from pregnancy. Sounds like one to watch.
