how can anyone expect a bunch of pimple faced 14 yr olds to run under 15 for 5k, can't you see from your post content who the users are, maybe 2 to 3 years ago you would have had a higher quality response
For one the people on here who do run under 15 minutes probably don't reply to this type of thread. Except to give a response like this. And secondly if you did want to know how many posters had broken 15 mins you could look at the all-wejo team which is posted as a thread regularly.

You're reading compreshension ain't what quite up to par. Why?
For one: the original poster asked who has broken 15:00 IN THE LAST YEAR. Does that all-wejo team thread list dates with the times? I don't think so. And most of the good times are from years ago.
Secondly: he also asked for LINKED performances. I don't trust probably 1/3 of those "all-wejo team" pr's.
thirdly: he wants to see the sub 15:00's of CURRENT REGULAR LETSRUNNERS. Many of the people on the wejo PR list/thread probably posted once or twice on Letsrun years ago. Hardly current and regular posters.
4th: why would people respond to the "all-wejo team thead" (WOO HOO!!! WHAT an HONOR!), and not someone other thread about times?
Besides that, your suggestion is helpful(as in, it wasn't). The wejo PR thread is useless. Why? Because all it tells you is that those people visited the site, possibly, at least once in their life(some may not have even visited the site, but someone convinced Statman that they had). And so many of the PR's are ancient. This thread is about REAL TIMES FROM REAL POSTERS RIGHT NOW. And we've seen that 15:00 isn't being broken too frequently.
Another example of why most sub 15 min runners don't post. Because the board is infiltrated by a number of 15 min plus guys who think they know it all and love to pick faults in everyone elses posts.
Richie Brinker who retired from running 2 years ago and does not seriously train any longer ran sub 15 this past weekend at the Hanson 5k road race. He refers to himself as someone who used to run.
what about the women...i know, i know, male dominated message board...
anyway, i wish i could break 15:00 for a 5k, i'd be one fast lady
Why within the last year? I'm a masters runner now. 16:30 is a good race for me now.
I did run sub 15's from 1985 to 1996. Probably 8-10 a year.
Road and Track. Pr'd at 14:36. 14:55 was pretty routine.
Early 90's I raced in Dallas a lot. We probably had 20 guys who could go sub 15 on any given day. It was a ton of fun with that type of competition. We had many guys from Mexico coming up to race as well. Some were very good. Like Andres Espinosa, who went on to win the NYC Marathon.
I think many of you could do it. I did it the stupid way...
Go out as hard as I could and hang on...
4:35, 4:45, 5:00 Painful but effective.
Nothing against you, but he asked about the last year because he wanted to know who is CURRENTLY fast. 16:30 may be fast for you, and congrats, you were truly fast at one time. But the purpose of the thread concentrates on the present for obvious reasons.
I got ya beat!14:53198620 years and many beers ago!

Why do you only respond to the ones that didn't answer the question? And why do you think that 15 min on the roads is good?

I think one reason we don't see too many people posting sub-15s on the roads is that most people who broke 15 did it in college and did it on the track. I think I only have once in the past year since I redshirted indoors this year, so those times don't count (although I did hit a 14:36 indoors in '05.) But 14:51 last April at Sea Ray is all I've got the past 365 days. http://www.tenntrack.com/meet/results/tenn/2005/04-13_Sea_Ray_Relays/050413F065.htm
15:00 and under is a short lived window. Enjoy it while you have it.
I responded because I am/was part of the club. And I like to see others reach their goals.
"When it hurts, Run Harder..."
Man congrats to everyone who's gone under 15. Although it isn't that surprising that not more have done it.
... I hope to join the club within the next 5 years (I'm 20 now, I have a loooooong way to go!)

Its doesn't have to be a small window. I first ran under 15 when i was 17. I am now 25 and have done it every year. I intend on doing it until i'm a vet. I bet there are a bunch of guys out there who have ran sub 15 for 15-20 years.
Just guessing, but maybe people don't want to put their real names out there.

If you can do it for 5 + years after college you will be in an elite league. Marry, work, kids....It just keeps addin' on to the things that can keep you from doing the necessary training. I lasted only a couple years (serious training/racing) after college. Just keep doing it as long as humanly possible. You won't regret it!
