8:19 is impressiv. Regarding superspikes. A 14 year old Norwegian ran a 3:59.25 1500 two weeks ago without spikes. Why? Because he was not into track and fields. Did it for fun. He is training in the woods. He got his first shoes with "superspikes" to day. But now it is serious. Running 2000 meters in Gothenburg World Youth Games at 7th of July. May be the two of them will compete.
Omg, can no one on letsrun say something nice. The kid is 14. I have said it 1000 times here. You can win a gold medal at the Olympics and it still isn't good enough around here. Its the shoes, drugs, a time trial, puberty, elevation, March, anything and everything, you will find some thumbs down to a performance the community should be rejoicing in.
