Main goal of Nazis was to keep communism out of Germany so they tried to conquer communism at it's main source -- Russia. They lost. Half their country was designated communist -- via East Germany and the other half (West Germany) was forgiven and allowed into the free world allied with Western Europe and the USA.

And they just happened to kill 9 million Jews on their quest to keep communism out of Germany? Makes sense.
If we’re talking about citizens, many knew from the beginning but could do nothing to stop it. Just watch The Sound of Music (Austria, I know…) to get a feel for how fast it all happened.
Then watch A Savage Peace to see the horrible things Germans went through across Europe as a result. No one talks about this part of history:
In the early hours of May 7, 1945, the German Third Reich signed their unconditional surrender, and the war with Germany was over. By September 2, one of the...
It's the same as Trump supporters. They will never realize they live in a world of delusions. The supporters of conspiracy theories live in every era, it's human nature.
people in the modern US lead such protected lives, they think every era, every culture just tolerates people speaking up against their government.
for MOST of the history of humanity that gets you killed/work camp/ostracized
revolutions (true revolutions) are rare for this very reason.. people have too much to lose, too many family members to consider before they decide to take on Stalin, or Hitler, Mao..
Ask the vaccine obsessed when they realized getting a litany of covid "vaccines" was a mistake and you'll probably be able to put two and two together to answer the original question.
Did the lower echelon Nazi Party members ever recognize they were on the wrong side? I am not looking for personal opinions.
They didn't; at least not through logic and persuasion. What happened was the allied powers occupied the country and got rid of Naziism by force, imprisoning millions of party members, forcing them to work in labor camps, burning literature, etc. In East Germany (occupied by the Soviet Union) they were all sent to the gulags. Millions of German civilians in nearby countries were killed or starved just for being German.
Norm Macdonald on David Letterman's last episode of The Late Show in 2015. It has been said that this is Norm's best joke by fellow comedian Jerry Seinfeld.

It is often ignored how much the Nazis despised communism.
The social group most supportive of the Nazis were business owners who were resentful of the banks to which they had to pay loans and rent, but who were also hostile to leftwing movements such as the labor unions and universal suffrage because they thought if the workers started voting and joining unions then they would out-vote the middle-class and start demanding pay rises.
From this perspective you can see how the Jews came to be targets. If your goal is to attack both communism and the banks, then antisemitism is the tool to use because the trope that the Jews run the banks is ancient, and several several prominent communists were of full or partial Jewish ancestry including Karl Marx, Rosa Luxemburg and Leon Trotsky.
It's not totally out of the question that eradication of communism was the main goal of the Nazis.

Yeah and the were some of the lowest scum in the history of our planet. There is nothing to admire. This site is absolute garbage. A bunch of rich guys born into privilege screaming how they are victims.
My uniformed perspective is that, generally, they never did. The reason is that the structure of thinking that allows someone to tolerate/vote for, someone like Hilter/Nazis, is a type of thinking that relies on blaming others, and proactive lying.
They likely found ways, no matter how far fetched they seem now, to deflect responsibility, reduce severity, and create a narrative that made them closer to the victims vs war criminals.
Agreed. This process is very much alive and unwell in America today. BTW, got a kick out if your innocent typo: "Uniformed." "Uninformed?") Appropriate to the context and strangely funny.

Your last sentence in particular is pure insanity... absolutely nothing concrete to support that. They OPENLY wanted to end Jews.
The discussion needs to start from Russia, 1915 or so.
O.P., you're implying low level working class Germans were running things. European monarchs from numerous countries financed Nazis. U.S. equivalent of billionaires of the time financed Nazis.
How do you believe Germany was able to pull their economy out of the dumps? U.S. bankers. European bankers. U.S. capitalists and European capitalists. If we were to say the names, my post will be deleted or thread removed.
Myth, for the most part. After 1933 Hitler set up a "vampire economy" in his pursuit of Autarky, or self enclosed economy which relied first on plundering neighboring states, most importantly Russia. His inability to secure the Caucasus in 1942 was the last nail in the coffin.
