Soooooooo....this post about a guy with a 10yr track record of great times being a doping suspect gets 4:1 upvotes, but a post on another thread questioning the legitimacy of Elle Purrier becoming a world beater 1 year after childbirth gets massively downvoted ....this message board is a bunch of clowns lol.
No way Paris will be anything close to this time. Nobody who makes final is going to risk pushing the pace with gold medal on the line. The final mile though will likely be crazy fast.
Yeah, that's what everybody said last year.
12:41 in Oslo and Paris and 13:11 in Budapest, no ethiopian on the podium.

Literally beat Tsegay and she doesn’t have as efficient anatomy sus asf but she’s American so naturally 🥱
Gebrhiwet has now run sub-12:50 over a 12 year span. It was that special 5000m in Paris in 2012, in an era with virtually no sub-12:50s except that one race, the Mo Farah era, in which he did it the first time. And the fact that he not only ran 12:40s last year and other times but smashed 12:40 off of a pace of something like 7:41, having to run a last 2k of 4:55 or under, makes this particularly remarkable. Plus, he must be significantly older because he wasn't 18 when he ran sub-12:50 in 2012, maybe 21 then, which would put him at 33 now. I don't know why Jakob didn't take this golden opportunity to get the world record.
He didn't because he is in 13:10 shape, which is not the world record unless he starts identifying as a woman (which might be a good idea to bring home some Olymic medals, BTW).
At least when bekele did it you could SEE the GOAT in him. His physique, his stride, the power.
Now, here, you see a funny looking dude who truly looks like he's never ran a day in his life but signed a deal with the devil to run fast at any price. Not the same.
I knew it was going to be fast because he went through in 11:40 with 400m to go and noticeably went faster. The lights are not necessary if you do some simple math in your mind. 1 minute laps make it extra simple, 60 flat is 12:30 pace, 61 flat is 12:42.5... So to run 12:42.5 you need to see the time on the clock go up by 1 second every lap, 61, 2:02, 3:03, 4:04, etc.... I think people overestimate the usefulness of the lights.
This is a bad take.
If anything people underestimate the lights. Did people not watch races before wavelights? It was so common to lose a second or two during races where athletes were going for a specific time. you would watch them yo-yo lap by lap because as good as muscle memory is, its still not a wave light. Banging out 8 61s in a row because you can glance to your left is super overpowered and easily as helpful as super shoes.
Gebrhiwet has made a strong case for new 5000m GOAT.
Better overall series of performances than the WR holder, and faster than Bekele.
not to take anything away from Gebrhiwet as he has the consistent fast times but having watched both of them there is a clear difference.
- the first obvious thing is that Bekele won gold in the Olympic/worlds. Yes Geb has medaled but never won anything that important.
- the way they run is different. All of Gebrihwet's fast times he was with other fast guys pulling him and he beats them with his kick. Bekele often led a large portion of the race and still pulled out the win with his kick. If Gebrihwet was in Kejelcha's position yesterday, leading after the pacer pulled out, do you think he would have still won? obviously good tactics as he knows he has a better kick than Kejelcha but just saying he didn't dominate like Bekele.
Another Ethiopian - their parade is as believable as the farce that has been shown to be Kenyan running.
r useless post by you. At least it's fun knowing how much you rage after each great race.
You read every one of my posts, and respond to them. They must be a lot of fun for you, too. But you still don't know the difference between rage and contempt.
