The point of the experiment isn’t that workouts and ancillary work aren’t beneficial. The point is that frequency of runs matters more. But yeah, semi talented boys would often run 50 mpw with this and girls maybe 40 mpw. That would help, too. This would be as easy you could make that volume. It would beat the pants off all the programs that have kids crushing workouts 3 days a week plus racing. Be a lot easier too.
And this would probably require much less of a time commitment than many HS programs. School days that end at 3 would have practice over by 4:15. Only challenge is selling HS kids on daily early mornings😂
my point is volume matters more than frequency. I expect you kids running 2x30 would be right next to the 1x60 crowd. And both are in front of the more normal 1x45 group. The question is who is likely to remain healthier. I vote for the doublers. We all like to act like running 90mpw is some walk in the park. That is surviorship bias.
Now how practical it is a different story. Getting the kids to bed by say 9:30 so they can run in the morning will be a tough sell. And if they stay up to say 11pm, your recovery is cut short. You need some school set up where your kids can run at like 9 at school instead of PE. Or some really dedicated kids..
