This whole crazy situation with Mu entering, then dropping, then entering, then dropping again means something crazy has been going on behind the scene.
Do you think that Mu was insisting on running and Kersee didn't want her to run?
Or do you think that Kersee kept insisting that Mu should run, and Mu is refusing to run?
My guess is the first one.
Mu once said she would love to attempt the 400/800 double someday (a la Alberto Juantorena.)
Kersee has stated that he is opposed to Mu and McLaughlin both competing in the 400 flat.
She better run the 800M at the Pre classic or else something is really wrong. She is a massive talent, however if she really does not like running and training then you can't be at the top of your game on talent alone. You have to live this sport 24/7 to be the best.
LOL Tell that to Kate Moss, Gisele Bundchen, etc, etc, etc.
Mu isn’t a model. Mu has modeled a couple of times but nothing that is indicative of a large paycheck, such as a campaign. She is likely to earn significantly more modeling as a track star than as a typical model in the fashion industry. Very, very few models can make a living off of modeling. Kate Moss, Gisele, Naomi Campbell, Daria Werbowy are the exceptions.

It seems odd that Mu/Kersee would choose to have her first race of the year at a Diamond League meet, as opposed to a lesser meet.
If she wasn't able, for whatever reason, to run in LA, how is she going to successfully compete against last year's WC gold and silver medal winners a week from now?
On the other hand, Nike will be putting a lot of pressure on her not to drop out of Pre, so it will be difficult for her to get out of racing there.
Maybe she snapped her ACL like Frerich's and we won't know until right before Pre.
But then she wouldn't have been in, then out, then in again, then out again.
Did anyone find any interviews with either Kersee or Mu at yesterday's meet? (I realize that Mu maybe wasn't in attendance, but Kersee would have been there.)
He runs his training group like a freaking occult. The church of Bobby Kersee. Here's one for you guys - you'll never see any of his athletes in Eugene warming up in the warmup facility like everyone else does. They have to warm up down at South Eugene high school where Bobby observes from his deck chair and he never ever bothers to watch his athletes compete live. Now it's only 5min by car to Hayward but it's not the point - it's this elitist control game with him where he dictates everything his athletes do - no wonder they all look miserable out there on track, I would hate to have my career experience dictated by that guy.

Some people like to be told exactly what to do. Some people don't.
Athing Mu doesn't strike as the type of person who likes to be controlled. Which is why I don't think she will keep Kersee as her coach much longer.
