Hopefully, she will land with a coach who will be patient with her and not try to force her out of her current training program. Just keeping things constant, she has a very good shot at the 10k team for Paris.
She's not going to switch coaches the month before the Trials.

"going pro" just isn't the same anymore now that college athletes are making money. I don't see what the benefit to her is. She's obviously in a situation that is working for her.

It obviously depends upon the parameters/details of the contracts.
Anecdote: The young ladies on my team couldn't care less about college and pro running unless Valby is in the race. Probably not the same with all high school girls' teams, but these girls love her social media posts and get inspired by her races. She is bringing something to the sport and I hope she uses that "something" to get more girls involved. I am not sure what that X factor is, exactly, but it is more than just being an attractive lady. She is resonating with young female runners in a way that other runners have not...
Her name is not currently in the portal so there's that ...
Potentially dumb question, but do you need to be in the transfer portal if you have graduated?
Don’t feel dumb, I was wondering the same thing while reading this thread. If a runner graduates, I’d imagine they wouldn’t need to enter the transfer portal if they are not transferring?

I think there’s just a relatability to her. She was oft-injured but gutsy, and to see her injuries resolve, competing at a high level is inspiring. Her intvws are great.

Exactly. If we don't know what she's making now then how would anyone know if she needs to go pro. I am sure she's doing just fine and if she wants to continue her free education to go along with all the money she is making then she probably should stay running in college.

To be a graduate transfer you still have to enter the portal.

correct. if they aren't transferring they would not be in the portal. which is why i pointed out she's not currently in the portal.

Obviously you don't need to be in the TRANSFER portal if you aren't TRANSFERRING.
But you DO need to be in the transfer portal if you are transferring to another school. Graduating or not graduating has nothing to do with it.
Depends. Do you think she makes more as a collegian or will make more as a pro? Winning college championships might provide her with better visibility (and thus a better NIL deal) than running professionally where she might be getting beat.
Okay, the consensus here seems to be she is staying in Florida (for at least another year to go to grad school) as a pro (non-collegiate athlete).

How is this the consensus? I'm not sure anyone said that. I think she will stay at Florida and compete FOR Florida as it looks like she has a year of eligibility left. She is getting a free education and making plenty off NIL.

The issue is what are NIL’s? How are pro contracts structured, as some form of insurance against injury, and regarding performance bonuses, etc.

Which Valby may have hinted at when she wrote "gogators5ever" in her Instagram post.

gogators5ever hints staying at Florida for another year. However, it does not indicate either way whether she will run for Florida or go Pro.
