Molly could retire today and still have a successful career to look back on. In that respect, she can do whatever she wants.
However, it does seem hollow to have it end like this. I hope she has the desire to pull the reins and focus solely on the road marathon. She has the gift.
Yeah, the talent is not in question. It’s a matter of whether she can get the body and brain together long enough to maximize that talent...assuming that she wants to.
whatever makes her happy.
Yeah I don't think she's quite sure what she wants to do really either. Post missed 2024 Trials she told Julia Hanlon on the Build podcast she was going to go after speed and try to make the track trials (I remember this because it surprised me, something about Jon Green working with her to get her outside of her comfort zone) but then weeks later she's on Ali on the Run podcast talking about how she is all in on the Canyons 50k because ultras are the things now that are going to cure her knee ailments. Absolutely all over the place. I swear to god the BEST thing she could do for her career at this point is to get a real coach. Yes man buddy buddy Jon is useless and she's proving to be an expert at mismanaging her own training and racing decisions at this point.
Seems Molly's goals have changed from competing in major competitive marathons. And I think it's a good question brought up earlier about her receiving any coaching. Has she gone rogue.

I guess she must know what she’s doing but she did perform well in Chicago. Then the knee thing prevented her from doing the trials. So instead of letting that heal she decided ultra trail marathons with lots of elevation will be the best thing for her knee.
Yet now in April she has to pull out. Because of her knee!
I’m guessing under the radar ultra tail runs are better for her mental health and that is a good reason to do them. Just hope she can get her knee healed up.

Detailing her running on social media isn’t “under the radar”.
Man is it just me or is your undertone a little salty about running influencers?
Not that I blame you. It's cringe and annoying when so many others pour blood, sweat, and tears into actually getting better at running.
Of course he's salty. Sage has yet to come to terms with the fact he's an influencer himself. Imagine going to Cornell and becoming a mediocre influencer supporting companies (spring energy) defrauding their customers but know you have to because you're getting paid. I'd be salty as hell knowing what I've become.
You guys, she was pretty open about the fact that she has some mental health issues. I make bad decisions all the time, and I don't even have any mental health issues. Maybe you do, too. Cut the woman some slack.
Molly Seidel ended up being such a disappointment for me. I was such a fan after the Olympic trials and Olympics, but her comportment since then has really turned me off. It's not interesting to follow her running career when she's bouncing from road to trails, running inconsistently, variously claiming injury and running marathons, and DNSing more than is typical.
I agree. The more I listen to her on podcasts, the harder it is to cheer for her. She is incredibly self absorbed, lacks social awareness and seems desperate for attention.

Yeah I mean more like there’s no pressure from the press like there would be with big marathons and competitive 10ks with all the other big names.
And she often doesn’t mention doing these races until the last minute. I follow her on instagram and had no idea what she was up to. She posts that scrapy tool all the time though!
