You have no clue what you're talking about. The paperwork didn't magically appear in some sort of conspiracy theory. The East German's themselves were the ones who brought all the drug paperwork to light.
And there were in fact court cases about the East German athlete's forced drug use, and several million dollars were paid out as compensation to all the East German athletes who were forced to take drugs and suffered health problems because of it.
Do not make little lies and think I will not notice. Once East Germany no longer existed, N.A.T.O. Germany ... . East Germany was not a country when you learned of said paperwork. Do you see the difference? You are naive to believe only then East Germany or then Soviet Union or then Soviet Union ally athletes took p.e.d.s.
You're very confused.
East Germans athletes took drugs. Period. That has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not athletes from other countries took drugs. Those are two separate things. Your thought process doesn't work very well.
And no, I am not naive at all about the drug use in the 1980's by athletes from many countries, or the drug use by the top Chinese women in the 1990's, or the EPO use by many distance runners in the 1990's.
However, none of that changes the fact that the East Germans had a state sponsored drug program for their athletes.

If an athlete today were to take p.e.d.s from about 40 years ago

Poster, you are drowning. Give it up. You are trying to change the topic of the thread. Original topic: Taking 400m w.r. away from M Koch. It won't happen. You are stuck trying to prove East German athletes took p.e.d.s. You have not even tried to prove East German athletes were taking more p.e.d.s than other athletes. THAT is what you would have to prove to delete her w.r. Good night.

No one has to prove E Germans took more drugs than anyone else. It is a fact their athletes were doped to a man (if you'll excuse the expression in Koch's case). But the WADA policy is no one's performances are scrapped unless caught doping. So her record stays. Doped as it undoubtedly was.

Marita was a nice-looking girl. No surprise her coach married her when she was yet under 20. Even if she took peds being forced by the GDR T&F federation, they were not damn heavy (opposite to swimming). Her coach was not an idiot to poison her wife, especially as they planned to have children, and their daughter was born shortly after she retired in late 80's.
Oh i beg to differ.Todays athletes are way more muscled.Look at shericka jackson.
You're an idiot. Of course the drugs they were taking in the 1980's were stronger. That's because there was no out of competition drug testing so they could get away with taking the strongest drugs possible in large amounts.
You KNOW this, yet for some reason you felt like this topic was a good excuse to disparage Shericka Jackson. What's wrong with you?
Ok,so youre just plain silly,or hopelessly naive.Maybe your'e blind, which makes no difference to me.Clearly you know nothing about sport,so you'll just troll me for the sake of it.The drugs today are stronger, and athletes are way more muscled.Trying to insult me wont change that fact.Back then athletes usually only took one or two drugs at once, now they take up to half a dozen. So yeah, call me an idiot if you want, but like taylor swift, ill just shake it off.

Boy are you dumb.
First of all, the topic is "Is Marita Koch's WR assumed clean or asterisked?" not what you just tried to change it to. Can't you read? It's in huge bold letters right at the top of this page.
And second, NO, proving East Germans were taking MORE drugs than other athletes has nothing to do with anything. It's not about if the East Germans took LESS drugs than other athletes or MORE drugs than other athletes. Taking ANY amount of drugs is bad.
And the East Germans were ALL on drugs. They were forced. It was a requirement to be on the East German national team. It's not even debatable. There was literally a big court case about this with many former East German athletes testifying that all East German athletes were forced to take drugs.
Anyone here to tries to claim that the East German athletes in the 1980's were not taking dugs is totally clueless. ALL the East German athletes were on drugs.
What's funny? She has naturally very large German calves so there is a possibility that she might be clean considering her powerfully built calves. Genetics dictate calf size:

Yeah, that poster is definitely not the brightest bulb in the shed...
The record is not clean. Where have you been? Are you a teenager who has just come to T&F? Koch and every East German athlete were pumped full of steroids. It's a fact. That's one of the reasons she looks like a man. But of course not as manly as Jarmila Kratochvílová who owns the 800M WR.

The crazy thing is that Jarmila Kratochvílová didn't even start taking drugs until she was around 28 years old and she didn't even try running the 800 until she was in her 30's. And her 800 world record wasn't even supposed to be a 800. She was planning to run a 200 that day and switched last minute to the 800.
If she had been taking drugs since her late teens like the East German women were, and she ran the 800 during her entire 20's, her world record in the 800 would have been a lot faster than 1:53.2.
It's a shame that World Athletics doesn't even appear to be trying to get these dirty women's records off the books.

Oh blah blah blah blah.Tell someone who cares.Everyone knows what the east germans did,and to answer your question, marita's record is assumed to be dirty. Now,run along.......
