She's ran against pros before. How does this change things?
What it changes is that she doesn't have to triple at meaningless league meets or run a bunch of qualifiers to make the state final. She can choose where and when she competes.
Sadie Englehardt gives up High School eligibility and will run in race with Pros and college athletes
Another top California prep gives up their remaining HS eligibility to run with pros. Same thing happen with Lex and Leo Young last year

The only eligibility she gave up was the first few weeks of the season....her "CIF Season" starts the day she puts on a Ventura High School jersey. She can do whatever she wants without violating rules until she represents her school in CIF competitions but has to wait two weeks after The 10 Race.....you'll see her at Arcadia.
Why does anyone consider this a tragedy? I went to a CA high school, had good enough grades, and never even pusued the CIF option. Did I have elegibility that I never used? Probably. Never asked. That's about how much I cared about what CIF thinks when I was 16 and in CA.
What do they offer that I wanted? Nothing. What do they offer that recent and current teen stars want? Apparently not much.

That's not what Lex and Leo and Sean Brosnan and Newbury Park thought the rules were.
I guess we'll have to wait and see whose interpretations of the CIF rules is correct.

My guess is that the rules of her being potentially disqualified from running with her team only applies to this school year. And then the rules would reset for next year and she could run xc with her team again.
Ventura came very close to making NXN this year, and I don't think that Sadie is the type of person to bail on her xc team, since with her they have a decent shot of making NXN this fall.
I believe the crux of the matter is that there will be a high school only event she could enter and she is opting out.

She can not compete unattached or compete for a club and run in a open race with any college athletes racing in that meet. I don’t mean a collegiate in her race, but the entire meet. Those are the rules CIFSS put out there last year and yes I also received the email as did my AD regarding this situation of rules.
I assume Sadie has decided to forgo her HS status as she has nothing else to prove in California and maybe most importantly CIFSS is holding her back.

i think there's something special about winning a state meet for your high school, but I agree that California's system is too much, and I don't blame the people from that state for skipping out.

Sadie has already won several state championships running for her high school. How many does she have to win before people think she should be allowed to move on to bigger and better things?

A bunch of college athletes are running in the meet. One big nam is Nico Young and every year college athletes run . Both men and Women just love me this year
Calm down everyone. I just talked to Sadie’s coach and he assured me that she WILL run in the Sound running meet and she WILL run the CIF season.
Please don’t discuss this any further.
You and they can say whatever you want. But She runs Sound Running , then she can not run CIF moving forwarded. It's actually really clearly stated in the rules

This is not true. There were athletes that did not race last year for their HS and ran an open race and lost their entire season.
