Damn, I really wanted to be done with you but you just keep pulling me back in. This is again further proof that you CANNOT READ! The OP NEVER said or rephrased that Noah wasn't black enough, another poster said; "You're making a weird point that Noah is not "black enough" for you, whatever the means." The OP then replied quoting the bolded part and said "Now you're getting it." So, you assertion that the Op tiptoed around and then had to rephrase it is a complete fabrication, when in fact the OP was specific enough in his words that other, more literate and intelligent readers actually understood what he was saying and is the one that posted it, thus proving that you are stupid and cannot read.
The only person moving the goalposts is you. This is what you said:
"The original assertion was that he was driving away fans. After that got laughed at the poster (likely you) eventually backpedaled to rephrasing as he is not black enough for some black people."
Yeah, by the end we agree that you backtracked to Noah not being black enough as opposed to him “turning away actual sprint fans”.
Have you ever heard of cause and effect? There is no conflict in that position, he is saying that Noah is turning "actual sprint fans" away, AKA black people in his book, because Noah is not black enough. There is no conflict, it's actually the preferred method of stating an opinion, just like he thinks you are an idiot, because you cannot read. Are you going to argue that he first said you were and idiot and then changed it to you not being able to read? Cause and effect is not backpedaling.
He's marginally outsprinting the competition during a weak era in the sport. He's done nothing to advance the sport except beefing it up a bit with the NBA. That was good, but I put value on results.
Can't walk around like Vince McMahon when you don't have a WR to your name.
9.5 - no
9.6 - no
9.7 - no
9.8 - yes
There's a performance gap here that doesn't justify world record contracts.
It isn't just the meritocracy that dictates; he'll get paid if they'll get paid. He's likeable, relevant, in-demand, and at the top of his game.
How did he just get the biggest contract since Bolt if he is “turning away actual fans”?
Irrelevant to what you first said, you said he backtracked on his statements about Noah and he didn't. What you are asking is a brand new question that challenges his assertion that you clearly understand and disagree with.
He says Noah is turning black people away because he's too white.
You say if that's true, how come he got such a big contract.

Both can coexist.

So, if you originally understood that as a singular train of thought, why then did you post this stating that it was 2 separate viewpoints? Be careful how you answer.
"The original assertion was that he was driving away fans. After that got laughed at the poster (likely you) eventually backpedaled to rephrasing as he is not black enough for some black people."
“All he is doing is turning away the actual sprint fans, which is what I'm explaining to you idiots that have no idea what those actual sprint fans are saying.” - Dumb OP
If he was driving away more fans than he was drawing in then he wouldn’t have the biggest contract since Bolt. That’s the point.
He isn't driving anyone away. If people tune in either in person, online or commenting somewhere to ACTIVELY ROOT AGAINST HIM, that's just as good as tuning in to root for him.
I love the sprints. I like that he is racing. I think he is an absolute clown but I also think a certain major party presidential contender is a clown. Track & field could use a new star but I don’t think he is it. He is rolling right now and he showed at WCs last year he can ride a wave of confidence in 200 and 4x100 if he wins the 100. That said, I also think he CAN implode if he doesn’t make the US 100 team. It’s only Feb but right now I’d say no medal in 100, medal (not gold) in 200, and DQ in 4x100 at Olys. And if he is on 4x400 team at Olys NBC is behind it.

Ever since the 1960s Los Angeles. Rams invented the professional sports TV model Hollywood TV studios have been paying NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, PGA, NASCAR, etc players.
If Noah Lyles signed with Hollywood TV maybe he would be proud enough to disclose the contract terms.
To all the commenters discussing his popularity: I was shocked at Budapest WC last year how much Euro fans loved Lyles and did not seem to care at all about Shacarri. My overall impression from the meet was that Bol and Lyles are the 2 most popular athletes in Europe with Jakob in 3rd.
Agreed that Shacarri has way more name recognition than Lyles in the US though because of the marijuana ban. I wish she got more publicity this year after winning worlds, I feel her redemption arc is one of the best / happiest stories in t&f recently.
Lyles has the Netflix show coming out right? I bet that will give him a big popularity boost.
I wonder if his recent 100m (and 60m) focus is not just about medals but also about being a bigger star. Feels like just the 200 isn't enough to be a huge star, need the 100 as well.
Overall I'm happy see a guy both performing at the top level and doing everything he can to grow the sport, and will be rooting for him in Paris (and his odds have to be better than ever given that recent 60)
I was talking to an agent who wanted to sign a runner I coached. He told me how much each of the other offers was.
When the runner signed, he (the runner) told me that he wasn't allowed to talk about the terms of the contract- just that he had a "salary" plus expenses plus bonuses.
* And I have to add that, based on what most letsrun posters THINK runners get paid, I was very surprised at how lucrative this contract was. Especially considering the times this runner runs.

I'm English. He's been my favourite US track and field athlete for years. The BBC seem to love him, too.
He's unapologetically himself, competitive, patriotic (in a non-insufferable way), always upbeat, and doesn't shy away from his goals whilst putting in the effort.
But what really elevated him in my eyes is the 2022 World Champs. When he didn't win the 200m in Tokyo, he came under a lot of pressure with the emergence of Knighton - with many seemingly getting off on his apparent misfortune - only to run a 19.31.
I wouldn't bet against him getting the 200m WR at some point.

Mental Toughness in Female Athletics: college record holder Masai Russel: Sprint Talks
@masairussell is an incredible human being, fresh onto the pro scene, she gives us her insights into her mindset as one of track and fields newest professional athletes, her mindset when it comes to personal growth, and pioneering NIL deals in female athletics.
Six-time world champion Noah Lyles and adidas have extended their partnership through the end of the decade, including both this year’s Olympic Games in Paris and the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Details of the contract are not available, but the agreement involves extensive commitments both on and off the track and is the richest contract in the sport of track and field since the retirement of Usain Bolt.
Three questions.
1) If contracts are private, how can one claim it's the richest contract since Usain Bolt?
2) Do you think Lyles should be the highest paid athlete in the sport considering he's never set a WR or won Olympic gold?
3) If you were a shoe exec, which track and field athletes would you pay more than Lyles (if any)?
