Vanamees made some great points that you completely disregarding legally blond. You again make the comment that its okay that blacks are racist because of the injustice this past 200 years. This is a horrible argument and by stating that its okay for blacks to hate for that reason just adds fuel to the fire and will continue to split these two races.

I looked at Barry Bonds as an individual, not an athlete.

You seem to be coming to a conclusion that there is some value to all hatred and racism committed by white for a particular time in the nation's history. You are comparing that value to the miniscule value of racism spewed by Brooks Johnson, Stephanie Hightower, or Barry Bonds. I admidt that in value the two values is huge, but in principle they are similar.

I never stated that my friend was racist or had a negative image towards blacks because three black guys robbed him. I was stating that actions by both races can cause people to form negative connotaitons towards one another.

One of your comments before was that you would apologize to a black person if they made a comment to you and said you would say you hoped your actions didnt contribute to their viewpoint.

I was making a statement that both races can form opinions of one another on instances that have NOTHING to do with race. Anyone can be robbed by another person and race has nothing to do with it. Thats my point. ALL RACES FORM OPINIONS OF ONE ANOTHER DUE TO ACTIONS BY A FEW.

nobody actual said that. I am saying, don't listen so closely to what Professional Athletes say, and really, if Bonds made a racist statement against McGuire, isn't that between McQuire and him?

Nobody said here it was ok to make racist statements, because it isn't, but to compare his statements or those of Brooks Johnson as part of the same level of injustice is not only taking things out of context, it is ignorance .

He has made numerous comments in the past about white people and how blacks are treated differently and he has said some things that should be questioned but there is a double standard in this country. So.... where is the line between racist remarks being kept between two people and open for public debate, legal action, etc.? I would think that when you made that comment you would have had to have thought, "Wait a sec, if I say that what Bonds said to McGuire should be kept between the two of them, isn't someone going to counter with, 'Well, then should every white person's racist remarks to an individual non-white person be kept between the two of them?'?"

If you agree that it is not ok to make racist statements, then when do you agree that society needs to take action? You seem to be proposing that society allow McGuire to fend for himself, but yet you propose societal intervention and consciousness for all the individual cases of racist remarks throughout history.

Lastly, I should've proof-read my own post! What I meant to say was that an individual racist action involving two individuals may not have a value that is equal to the value of one group's collective racist actions over a long period of time. I think this is why you keep saying that what Brooks Johnson says is not "comparable" to what the entire grouping of white people have said/done. I feel that you are ignoring the principle behind such actions, which I believe is similar. This is how I'm basing my judgement that what Bonds said is wrong and action should be taken against him becuase it was a racist remark.

are you suggesting incarceration? taking his steroids away? no tv for a month? please, he can say whatever he wants. Yeah, I do care. I care when John Rocker can make a comment and have his career ruined by it. I care when someone standing on the cusp of eclipsing one of the most sacred records in all of sports makes racist comments.

You should care, instead of pretending to act like you never utttered the N word in your life. If you are so dead set against racism as you say you are, then you should be screaming from the rooftops that what Bond said is totally uncacceptable and only breeds more racism.

I'll start....school vouchers, federal private school funding, taking away a woman's right to choose, keeping gays from civil unions or marriage, intervening with the right to choose if you want to die or not, and tax write-offs for people who purchase SUV's, cutting funding and programs such as head start and planned parenthood. These are just ways to divide people instead of unify them - all for the sake of the chosen frozen.
