testing 1.2.3.... wrote:
I think the biggest takeaway from this whole situation is that Saruni showed up to the Kenyan trials glowing with PEDs and with the expectation that he wouldn't be tested at all....this wasn't a random out of competition test or a smaller meet.
As much as I'd like to think Kenya has been making some progress with their doping problem it's not a good sign that experienced athletes are showing up to the biggest and most important meet of the year with the expectation that there would be no testing.
Did you read what I said? In 2023, it is possible Saruni wouldn’t have even been invited to the meet (3 test minimum). Athletes were tested upon arrival without exception if they wanted to compete. Evade and you weren’t allowed to the meet. It’s a great sign that in 2023 they tested 7x as much as in 2022. People who don’t think the AIU/Kenya are trying are deluding themselves as much as people who don’t think there is a problem.
Also for Coevett’s 5/20 stat, the breakdown is
-2 1500m runners (Kiprop -EPO, Manangoi-missed tests)
-3 800 runners (Bett-EPO, Saruni -evading, Kipketer- missed tests)
Kipketer actually has his best showing since his return with a 147/146 double last weekend.
