Those days are long, long gone. I had theory profs in grad school in the 90s who complained that nobody did deconstruction anymore. The days of Kristeva and Derrida are over. Now, deconstruction poseurs I’ll agree with. They talk worse than the vanguard.
Teaching (elementary school) has to be the most fluff, padded, fake job I've ever seen in my life. None of the teachers in my friend circle could last 12 months in a competitive just stressed business or engineering setting.
I doubt those in either of those two fields could make it a year teaching. The stories from an elementary school classroom would break your heart, if you actually have one.
That said, I know a lot of teachers who are pretentious about their jobs.

I agree completely. It's not an easy job, but the jargon and acronyms are insufferable. There's really nothing new or different after the first five years or so - it just comes back with a new acronym. And most of those peddling the latest magic bullet are former teachers who couldn't stand it anymore.
