Of course he doesn’t. What chance would you give him of finishing top 3 for women if that were an option for him?
Dumb question that has no basis in reality.
I’d offer a dollar bet to win $10000 if he makes the men’s team, though, because his odds aren’t 0%.
You know damn well Abdi is NOT making the team. You obviously aren’t very bright if you cannot see that. Like why even make such inane comments? Are you really slow?

Yes, real thought provoking stuff you’ve written here.

OK since you think Abdi has a real chance to make the team, do you think he will be closer to 3rd place or 20th place?
OK how about this: If Abdi makes the US team in the marathon for Paris, I pay you $10,000. If Abdi does not make the team, you pay me $500. Would you take that deal?
Something doesn’t seem to fire on all cylinders in your head. Of course I wouldn’t take this bet, or any bet in regards to him making the team. I don’t think he’s going to make it. But that doesn’t mean his chances are 0%. They are only 0% if he’s not in the race, or is planning on purposely finishing outside the top 3(and timewise slower than needed). Take a breath brother, everything is going to be ok.

OK so at least I have convinced you that Abdi will not make the team. So this places his chances as the same as yours. Neither of you will be on the team.
No there is zero chance of this happening. When I see sheer stupidity such as your post being upvoted I recognize that most of you are complete and utter morons.
The only way it would be 0% is if he wasn’t in the race. This is why you run the race. Are the odds good? Of course not. but it’s a marathon, a lot can happen. Couple guys have an off day and he makes a lucky move at the right time and the weather is junk….anything is possible, saying 0% is inaccurate.
What’s wrong with y’all. Abdi isn’t running the trials to make the team, he’s running because he can. This would represent the sixth cycle of Olympic trials for him, a personal record of sorts.
I happen to know Abdi quite well! If you think Abdi went to Ethiopia to waste his time you must be out of your mind! The big reason to move to Ethiopia is because everything is cheap in Ethiopia compared to Flagstaff! And plus he gets to train with plenty strong runners and friends unlike Flagstaff where you bump in random people everyday! Ethiopia you eat fresh food all day every day! With lower budget I would do the same! He is not doing it for money for sure! Asics is not giving him the money he used to make! If anything Abdi is a real OG and loves the sport! Show some respect to the elders😉

I just saw a training video made by Luis Ortega in Kenya. At the end he's chilling with Paul Chelimo over Fanta and some food and they talk about how everyone is social and relaxed after the hard workout cause everything they're having costs $2. In America, everyone would be gone already to get more stuff done. They gotta pay the bills.

You haven’t convinced me of anything. The facts have never changed. I never thought he was going to make the team, but that statement doesn’t mean his chances are 0%. When are you going to understand that? I’m not sure how/when him getting compared to me got roped in here, for it’s totally irrelevant. But at least you are consistent, for this statement/comparison is not accurate either. Abdi’s and my chances are not the same. first, I’m not in the race. but more importantly, I’m not a professional runner with years of racing experience and talent under my belt that just so happened to make the last olympic team team in the same event. come on man, at least get a clear statement and argument if you want to play keyboard crazy on the internet.
The dude displaced 2:07 ritz to 4th in 2012 and 2:07 Korir to 4th in 2020. You might view that as a problem with the American qualifying system but I view it as Abdi being a gamer.
Kenenisa's track in Ethiopia outside of Addis is awesome. A perfect track in the middle of a field up in the hills outside of the city. No hobby joggers (except me when I went there) or high schoolers crowding the track. Massive amounts of soft surface running at altitude in every direction. Probably easier to eat healthy as well. Lots of other good runners to train with. But you are also really close to a massive, bustling, international city with night life . . . There are reasons to train there besides EPO. . .
Honestly Abdi fortunately has no shot. How many times has this guy qualified and not finished or clearly limped his way around on the biggest stage rather than man up and give away that spot to someone who is healthy and able to perform well for our country? Hanging out with Lagat and considering his longevity I highly doubt he is clean. This dude used to get his ass kicked by Adam Goucher and when was the last time Gouch put on a pair of spikes? This will be his sendoff but surely some age group records will be worth the doping for him to continue racing like he is.
