I seriously did not know Estrada was still racing. Great race & hope it bodes well for him in 2024.
Didnt he have an amazing HM debut here in like 2012?
Exactly, just beat his debut PR from 2012. He's been living in Sweden/Flagstaff (GF or wife from there) and started doing "Norwegian" training vs what he used to hammering all the time and getting injured cycle.

And in the ShoeTubers division, Kofuzi is blowing up badly on the half and Phily Bowden appears to be on pace for her 2:26 and meeting the Olympic Standard. How many videos will each of them make about their race? As for Kofuzi, his endless 6x6 minute workout probably isn't the greatest. But good effort at breaking 1:25.

What was Kofuzi’s goal?
I just saw he ran 1:25:07.
Another YouTuber, Andrew “Midlife Runner” Pozza, is shooting for Sub 3:00 with an aggressive negative split strategy. He is on 3:00:35 pace and speeding up.
Love it when people throw shade on Rupp. The guy looks in great shape, and is clearly just in a heavy training block. The guy will win his third marathon trials in 3 weeks and make his fifth olympic team.
More/less my take too. Rupp running 62-mid tells us very little. He's likely around his peak mileage & didn't rest for this. He did look strained coming in the last 400 that they showed of him finishing, & got clipped by (it looks like) a former Air Force runner without 62-mid credentials. Rupp is a guy who doesn't have anything to prove. Probably happy to get in a hard effort. He's a guy who can run this in full marathon training & then hold a marathon pace close to it at the Trials.
Will be interesting to see who starts the marathon. Simbassa debuted in Prague in May in 2:10. He went out close to 1:04-flat. Dk what the weather was like there. He's gone sub-61 multiple times. Been doing a lot of road races the last 2 years, with strong domestic results. Estrada also looked impressive today. 1:01 for Colley is strong too.
Kelati should also get major props for a new AR. Feel like the women can keep chipping away at that record.

His goal was 1:24:59. He should've listened to Sage! But he had to keep on with his dumb 6x6 minute workout! Though I suppose he could've done a parking lot ultra in a snow storm instead!
Houston organisers proving to us all why you shouldnt have a HM running alongside the Marathon.
Vicoty Chepngeno, in 2nd in the final 200m of the marathon, and some 2hr12 HM hobby jogger cuts across her twice to go hug family members who are on the wrong side of the road/course. Course Marshall standing in the middle of the road doesn't even react. Stupidity.
Bowden blowing up, headed to a 2:30. Seems like it's pretty windy on the back half of the course.
we got 16+ IG posts about her last 2:29, as this was a 2s PR how many posts do you think we'll get this time? #IgnoreTheFactYouMissedYourTarget #PostingForPostingsSake

To be fair, PR in somewhat adverse conditions (wind). But I predict 26 Instagram posts, one for each mile of the race. Got to sell that Athletic Green Supplement and Coros watches!

Hopefully we'll see Kelati grab the Oly 10000m standard at The Ten.

Maybe NAU talent never goes away. Does Estrada discuss his current training in an available podcast or article?

I det hundrafemtiofjärde avsnittet av ”Maratonlabbet - en podcast om löpning” intervjuas Diego Estrada, den 33-årige amerikanen som tidigare har sprungit OS för Mexiko (London 2012) men som nu sikt...

Des summarized perfectly on the broadcast: 3-4 weeks out from a marathon, if a person runs fast his competitors will say, clearly prepared for the half. If runs slow, not in shape and won't be a factor ;)
