Why does everyone keep saying it was ALL Vin? Palmer was a huge part of getting Brosnan in trouble as well. Know this for a fact.
Actually neither Vin or Palmer were responsible. Brosnan was responsible. They may have pointed out what he did, but he was the one that did the things that got him fired.

Actually neither Vin or Palmer were responsible. Brosnan was responsible. They may have pointed out what he did, but he was the one that did the things that got him fired.
Actually he didn’t do anything wrong. It was investigated by the NCAA and it fell flat. It was Vin and Palmer that were cry babies because their athletes didn’t like their coaching or like them as a person. Vin called UCLA and made a fuss. The UCLA admin doesn’t care about track so it’s easier to just let the assistant coach go.
It is fading but not gone yet because they haven't had a full track season. HS fans assumed that they would walk in and dominate. Several kids I coach were very excited for Stanford and Oregon last fall. They expected Oregon to be a podium team.
Here, specifically, is what Brosnan said in that podcast.
TL/DR:
• He's starting a non-profit and raising funds, working with a business partner.
• A book and pro running group seem to be the aims of the non-profit. (The thinking is probably that the publicity from the book jump-starts a coaching career with a new pro group.)
• He's meeting with possible ghostwriters to put together a Running with the Buffaloes-style book about the Newbury Park years. He thinks the book will be out in about a year, which seems like an aggressive timeline.
ON YELLING AT STUDENTS AND UCLA:
" I remember my first week of practice [at Newbury Park], I caught the guys, they went to the park and I caught them messing around on the swings and I just ripped into them. And I used to tell my wife, I'm like, 'I'm either going to get fired or this is going to be one of the best frickin teams ever.' And, like, it worked out because, like, I just didn't care. Like, I didn't care.... I mean, I wasn't saying anything wrong, but like, I'm going to hold them accountable.
"I mean, I got in trouble at UCLA for yelling at my athletes for being late. I was like, 'Are we joking?' Like, I'm not kidding. It was, it was crazy to me. I said it was like the third time they were late and I wanted to hold them accountable. And it's like, are we living in such a place where the people are that sensitive? But that's a whole other talk."
ON THE BOOK HE'S WRITING, OR THINKING ABOUT WRITING:
"I'm actually writing a book right now.... It should be out next year... So I have a business partner. We started a nonprofit. We were able to raise a good amount of money, which is really cool, to help with this book -- this is part of it. And then other things on [top of] that, which will have to do with my hopefully pro group in the future, too.
"It'll be about, basically, yes, me starting at Newbury Park. I don't know where it's going to end yet. I do want to put the UCLA part in there, because there's a lot of things I want out there about the NCAA and other stuff too that I want to openly talk about.... about how things happen and how I don't agree with a lot of things. It's been kind of nuts. But at the end of the day, it's going to be more Running with the Buffaloes-style, where I think it's going to be, like, a story. It's not going to be a training book. We'll talk workouts for sure. But like I want people outside of the running world to be attracted to reading it....
"I'm going to be back east next month, in January, meeting with two possible ghostwriters to help us. One of them, you guys would know, he's a very, very prominent running name. Another person has nothing to do with running, but that might be the way we want to go.... We're trying to do this the right way and own all the rights to it and do everything. So we've been raising money, and that that's been keeping me sane from not coaching right now."
ON HIS FUTURE PLANS AND STARTING A POSSIBLE PRO GROUP:
"I'm not going to go back to high school coaching. I'm not going to go back to teaching. And that's fine. And, like, I thought about it -- I thought, 'Maybe I just do that again and build up another team and show everyone like I can do it at another school too. I mean, maybe not at the magnitude of Newbury Park, but I believe I can get another team out there on the podium'....
"You know, especially recently, not coaching has been the hardest thing for me. You know, I'm actually doing a workout with Nico today because he's home for the holidays in or about an hour here. We're going to head off. And I'm still close to all those guys, obviously, and that that's been the hardest....
"It does lead to the bigger question. What's next for me?.... I don't have people pouring in, but I've had, shockingly, some very good athletes that have approached me like, 'Hey, I heard you're starting a group. Is this true?... Is this happening after the Olympics, or whatever?' So that's the plan. The plan is to start a pro group, and that's what I'm in the midst of trying to do. And I don't want to say too much because I have a lot of stuff going on, and try to work out those details.
"You know, people will be like, 'Oh, who wants to run for him?' I'll have guys, you know... After the [Paris] Olympics, it'd be perfect timing. We have the next Olympics on our home soil in Los Angeles....
"So I do have a few people now that have reached out. Ironically, I've had some people reach out that were, like, in colleges. I'm like, 'I can't help you, man.' [laughs] But these are like good guys, like top all-American guys. I'm like, 'What in the world? Like, I can't -- you have a coach'.... No, I don't get involved with that... Even the high school thing. Like if I showed you my DMS, so many high school kids want me to like private-coach 'em. But I just don't want to private coach. I don't find anything wrong with it. I just don't want to do that. I don't want to be a high school private coach.... I've had one high school call [offering a job]. I kindly said, 'No, thank you.' And they offered me a teaching job, too. And I was like, 'No, I'm good, I'm good.' So we'll figure that out."
