I saw the other thread and started this one as I think the OP made a typo. Now that I'm over 40, can someone tel me
So you made a new thread because of a typo, then proceeded to include a typo. I guess someone better start a new thread on this where everything is spelled correctly.
Id think where you are running has a lot more to do with it than age. Beach or florida, anything goes. Here near boston you only see it very rarely.
Im 43, and I generally don't run shirtless due to sun exposure risks, mosquito carrying diseases, and how freaking pale I am. Despite looking like I haven't seen the sun in my life, I do run shirtless in the shade. I also Mow the lawn shirtless, as it's easy to limit my mowing in the sun to short periods and the mower seems to keep bugs away. My wife loves it when I go out shirtless though. The attractiveness of a having less inhibitions (in comparison to the boston suburbs) outweighs super pale skin or other imperfections apparently
Given that, I generally highly encourage men of all ages to run shirtless, if you manage the sun exposute risk. It's one of the only "advantages" we have over women that won't be complained about for being an unfair advantage over women. You might be called out for other reasons, but I say ignore those, and run like the free man that you are.
I encourage it to simply be an antithesis to the weekend cyclists who dress up like they are in a grand tour.
I encourage it to promote a less conservative/inhibitive culture around town. Running shirtless without a perfect body might actually be better for this reason. We should encourage ALL body types to run shirtless. If there are any "social manners" of mine for my neighbors to complain about me for, I'd rather it be for not wearing a shirt than anything else. It's probably the least offensive/worrisome critique on fashion there is. I'd rather someone find me weird for not wearing a shirt than very out of style pants, shoes, haircut, etc.
I think if you think you would be OK with seeing Wejo (your twin) running shirtless then it is OK for you to do so. But do it because it is warm and not to impress anybody. I think Prince once said a man over 40 shouldn’t go around shirtless and that may be a good rule of thumb, but I don’t think he was talking about runners.
So if your running habits depend on a dead musicians advice ... ok, to each his own, but then I prefer to follow the look of Iggy Pop who ALWAYS performs shirtless.
Obviously you cannot read with comprehension. I will walk you through this if I absolutely have to.

great post. The last time I ran without a shirt was a few years ago (in my late 40s) on a suburban park trail. I came across a family that was hiking and a little kid yelled out "look that guy is running naked!" and the father started shouting at me, very angry. Like I was exposing myself to his kid or something. I was just wearing shorts without a shirt. I realized some people get really offended. I thought his reaction was weird but ever since that day I've been more self conscious about it.

It's going to be 61 degrees in Boston on Sunday. For the very reasons posted above, I'm going to take my teenage son out for a run and we will run shirtless through the center of town.
Who would be up for organizing a group run where we all run shirtless on the marathon route through Wellesley 2 weeks before patriots day? It would nicely contrast all the colorful BAA jackets seen that day. Start/finish @ Wellesley HS.
I do wonder about all the manboobs out there and whether a jog bra might help some of you. I think women should be permitted to jog topless if they want to.
64 here, ran shirtless a lot in my teens and early 20’s. I’ve had 20+ precancerous moles cut off my back and have to go to the skin doc every year for a check. As a side note I found that if it was over really hot (95+) a thin while long sleeve (that I doused with water) kept me cooler than going shirtless on long runs. On the aesthetics side, who cares, do what you want as long as you don’t mind a little criticism.
In April i moved into a new house and I have lots of neighbors. Before I lived on a cul-de-sac and could easily get to the trials without being noticed. When I did actually go for a run this summer, this idea popped up into my head pretty much right away. I thought about running a few blocks and then taking it off so my new neighbors ddn't judge me.
Then a few weeks later I was sitting on my back patio and my next door neighbor rolls up the alley drenched in sweat - shirt off. Guys my age and just finished an 11 miler shirtless on a HOT day. I've got the perfect place to live if only I'd start running.
You care too much about what others think. I live in an apartment building with dozens of people. I will run without a shirt on hot summer days and a lot of people in the building will see me shirtless at the entrance or on the elevator. I do not care because my enjoyment of my fitness routine takes precedent over someone else's views.

No offense but Rojo lives in a classier neighborhood. I don’t think it should matter but maybe it does.
I am in my 60s and run shirtless any time it is over 55 degrees. I am big sweater and for me it is lousy experience running with a saturated shirt. Also, I am old enough to not care what anyone thinks. Finally, after consistent running for 60 years, quality diet and 40 plus years of hard weight training, I look better than 90% of 25 year olds. But the main reason is I sweat an insane amount. Within 3 hours of working out I consume 128 oz of fluids or 8.3 pounds of fluids. Yes, I sweat that much.
Personal preference but let the scale be your guide and hopefully you've got a base tan working so people are not blinded on your maiden shirtless seasonal voyage.
