Protected PED shacarri (I'm talking about real PEDs, not mairllrijuana) would be destined to be Nike's track queen along with another protected one who associate with ped cheats, Miss SML.
Not shocked. She's probably the most high-profile Nike track athlete right? There is Crouser but field athletes don't get the respect they deserve. Jakob is obviously up there too.
Considering the issues Nike has had with their sprinter sponsorships in the past few years I can definitely understand why they would put down the big bucks to keep her signed to Nike.
I wonder if Michael Norman is gonna go looking for another sponsor. Curious if he signed a multi-year contract.
It's not about who deserves the respect and money, it's about popularity. She is a much more "interesting" character than other fast runners. Some social media influencers earn millions, so it makes sense to pay her a lot if she can attract followers (= organic advertising for Nike). In short, her drama and clowning paid off. Had she been a low key winner like Sydney it might be $2 million.
to think that someone gets lauded and more acclaim for putting in their body, a product that changes the brain chemistry over time; that's a gateway drug to harder, more dangerous substances and generally being an arse than someone who works hard and lives an apparently exemplary life - screams the stupidity of humanity.

Wow! I hope you rail against alcohol as vociferously.
$4m/year sounds unbelievable as a base salary. If that comp figure is right, it must assume she'll get every incentive in the contract for gold medals, world records, world rankings, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the total of all incentives reaches that, but I can't imagine she's getting $4m/year in base pay.
Shacarri' Richardson has that indefinable star power that no other current track and field runners have, which is why she gets big #'s. Being the best ever at your event or having world records (Joshua Cheptegei, for instance) is not enough to bring in the followers and dollars.
Although I seriously doubt Richardson actually got a deal that's 5 times more than anyone else; however; I think she has tremendous value Nike. In a year or 2, Richardson will have the 100m all to herself because all of the other top ladies are in their 30s.

We value authenticity and if you didn’t notice the so called “street” black female persona is very much in style. See Female rap artists, Ice Spice, Cardi B, Sexxy Redd, etc. And let us not forget that besides being a compelling personality, she is one great sprinter.
Nike isn’t sponsoring Sha’Carri the global medalist; that person isn’t worth $20 mil over 5 years to Nike.
Nike is sponsoring Sha’Carri the eccentric world class athlete who was barred from global competition over the use of a harmless plant to help her cope after her mother died; that person is ABSOLUTELY worth $20 mil over 5 years to Nike.
I don’t understand anything about marketing but neither does anyone else and maybe that’s fine. It seems to me marketers are the alchemists of our time, lots of stats and pseudoscience but asking that you main line their “trust me”
That’s probably one reason advertisers knew they could refuse TwitterX.
A Demandbase study found that 71% of advertising campaigns fail to meet expectations. And 96% of digital marketers admitted that their advertising was a waste of money. Digital ads don’t work. And everyone knows it.
Why? Why is she of that much value? Does she really help to sell Nike Product? Endorsement deals are mind boggling to me, makes zero sense.
Her followers have a lot of overlap with those most likely to steal Nikes. So when it nets out, the sales she might drive are massively offset by theft losses.
The contract is worth that with the max bonuses and award monies that Nike matches for DL wins and records which is a struggle for anyone to hit fully. Hearing base is $2.4 million.
The only source I found to corroborate this is a report by Pulse Sports Nigeria. This deal, in addition to the financial aspects, includes Richardson participating in campaigns with Nike, advocating for mental health, and contributing to the development of innovative sprinting gear.
However, I couldn't find additional reliable sources to further confirm these details
does anybody else touch her 3 million followers? she should probably be the highest paid by far. maybe double everybody else
I'm sort of confused as to why she has over 5x what Noah Lyles has. Both of them seem like people you know about if you follow track even a little, and not people you know about if you don't, so what gives?
females always get way more followers than males. Some followers may not be barely interested in track at all. Lyles followers are probably all track fans.

The reason that she gets more exposure is because Lyles talks about how he likes anime and is a giant nerd about the running world, while Richardson acts like a trashy hood rat. People love supporting the lowest tier of people in America, monetizing hood culture is literally the easiest form of grifting that exists in the modern age.
