I know there was a similar thread on this earlier in the week but now Kipchoge has no excuses. He's back on social media - doing PR work in China - and still crickets.
I'm a huge Kipchoge fan but even I will admit it's not a good look.
But I'm fine with it. What's always impressed me is his dedication to being the best.. Year in year out. I guess this just proves he's super competitive.
Let's just respect him for being the GOAT - he doesn't need to be propped up as some sort of Gandhi type dude.
Marathon GOAT, yes. Distance running GOAT? Not even close.

That photo is perfect. It's exactly how I've envisioned Kipchoge since his record was erased.
He's not exactly George Foreman, who always lavished praise on for decades Ali despite being knocked out.
This is an attempt at humor? Don’t quit your day job boy!
Hi Hoad, no I wouldn't joke about Peter Snell's death.
Just pointing out that Kenyans rarely show any respect on social media to each other or other athletes, past and present.
One exception to that was Asbel Kiprop.
There must a dozen of us whom you refer to as Hoad. Social media is not the highest priority for most of us. Plus I thought you said Kenyans had no concept of time. Maybe he will congratulate Kiptum in a couple years since it would be the same as 2 hours to him. Is Kiptum clean Coevett?
Somebody should do something about this. Does he not know the rules of social media? He has to acknowledge Kelvins run. We need to start a petition. That’ll do it.

He did. It has nothing to do with you. You are nothing.

I don't understand why this is an issue. Why does anyone care whether the former record holder congratulates the new record holder? If Kiptum thinks he should have received congratulations he can use that as motivation in his next race, but it shouldn't matter to anyone else.
Yeah, it’s a small head scratcher to me, not an issue. It would rise to issue level , if he said something snarky or belittled a former record holder. Guy maybe just have the niceties of manners in his repertory. Takes nothing away from his achievement imo.

This new thing where people sit on someone’s social and get mad if they don’t comment on something is already tiring. It is so controlling and passive aggressive. It is like getting mad someone doesn’t smile enough and you tell them in real life. Can’t wait until this stops being a thing.
I noticed this trend also... pathetic. People are getting butthurt left and right over others not reacting to things they care about, like it's some sort of entitlement. GTFO snowflakes.

For sure EK owes us nothing in terms of public comment and he doesn’t owe Kiptum anything in terms of private comment. The interesting question is whether EK would have responded differently to another athlete. Let’s say an established star like Cheptegei broke his record or even Bekele back in the day? Would that have made a difference? Maybe the issue is Kiptum is an upstart, or maybe it’s because insiders have real suspicions about him being doped. I always have thought one of the most convincing testaments to Kipyegon being clean is her competitors reactions to her records as compared to how they reacted to Dibaba.
