She is one of my favorite T&F athletes currently, but her over-the-top religiosity is a turn-off. But I'll ignore it (same as I did with Alyson Felix and Bryan Clay and countless others) because I admire her for her athletic performance, NOT for her beliefs / superstitions / politics / etc.
I can sympathize because at her age, I too was a religion-crazed evangelist. I know it comes from good intentions, however naive &/or ignorant. So I cut her some slack... She means well, even if it is annoying as shtixx.
But the more overt and vocal it becomes, the more unwatchable they become. Gag. What a shame. It's hard to leave a cult once you've got the sunk costs of public / emotional investment.
I hope you find peace and healing. You are angry and lashing out at people you don't even know.
Yes, I have found peace and healing, thank you.
I have no idea why you think I am angry; do I sense projection on your part?
Perhaps it unsettles YOU that a formerly religious person has found peace & healing outside of religion? Why do you need to believe we're angry & unsettled? It makes you feel threatened? I understand, I felt that way too when I was religious. I pity you.
I wasn't "lashing out" at Sydney. On the contrary, I expressed sympathy & understanding for her.

Lol at these comments. The average LRC user doesn't even want to pay to go for track meets, why will they spend on a book? The target audience is obviously not you guys.
If Sydney believes her faith in the divine grounds her, I'm ok with that. We all find our coping mechanisms to walk this oft brutal and short existence.
I wish her well and hope her faith provides her with the comfort during those dark and disappointing times we all have to face sooner or later.
Man, Sydney's freaking awe-inspiring, and seems like a nice enough kid, and I *love* watching her run, but holy sh*t would I rather see her *compete* once in a while (ya know, like you're kind of *supposed* to do if you're a professional athlete) than listen to her prattle on about Jesus, or God, or the Great Pumpkin.
Message to Sydney, Alan Webb, Jim Ryun, et. al.: NO ONE wants to hear your freaking non-sensical proselytizing. Constantly ramming that crap down the throats of anyone within ear-shot only *loses* you fans.
Dathan Ritzenhein, AFAICT, is a pretty devout Christian, too. Ya now what's so great about Dathan?? He almost never freaking TALKS about it.
(Probably because he's smart enough to recognize the stupid proselytizing convinces NO ONE, but does undoubtedly piss a bunch of people off.)
I'll tell you what, Syd: If you actually RACE eight times next year, I promise I'll spend thirty seconds pretending to listen to your prattling about Jesus.
I hope you find peace and healing. You are angry and lashing out at people you don't even know.

"naive &/or ignorant" "cult" "Gag"
I will now use those terms when expressing sympathy and understanding for someone. I appreciate your help on this.
