Nonetheless, what I find cringeworthy is the Pro-Kerr talking point about how suddenly the WC 1500 Gold is, like, the Only Thing That Matters in track.
As if the Olympic 1500 M gold never happened and the back-to-back 5000 meter Golds (a very rare feat in track history) is, uh, either irrelevant or somehow unimpressive or, like, didn't happen.
It's one thing to throw shade at JI, and gloat for Kerr, for JI losing narrowly to Kerr after leading for most of the 1500 final and Kerr having an objectively awesome race (and really no surprise to anyone who watched his awesome kick in Tokyo for bronze).
But to keep it up after JI bounces back with a 5000m title? People, the sh*t-talking should stop at that point. It's Gold vs. Gold-and-Silver.
Kerr is a great, awesome 1500m runner. He has a WC gold and Olympic bronze. However, this will most likely be the online distance he can perform at, and he wont be in contest to win for many years a head.
Jakob is a generational runner. He has Olympic gold, 2x WC golds, 2x WC silver. When he cant perform in 1500 anymore he's most likely gonna be relevant in all distances from 5000 => marathon for a decade or two.
Again, Kerr is stupid great. Out of billions of runners in the world he has a WC gold and Olympic bronze. But even so Jakob is something entirely else. Kerr also knows this and respects Jakobs skill and supremacy, his unwillingness to compliment him, not so much.

We went from GOAT talk to generational runner about Jakob... he got downgraded after this WC 1500 loss. If he somehow does not get a gold in Paris he will never be considered middle distance GOAT.

Kerr doesn't do the 5k bra.. and he will hold the belt in the 1500 at least until next summer. He has bragging rights until then and Jakob has to cope. Not to mention less people will be willing to put their money on Jakob to win a championship 1500 now. Jakob is king of 5k racing right now and should really consider moving up to the 10k quickly.

and teg dont do no 10k
...
unless he gets caught tryin to nail a guy from behind
It’s amusing to see all the Jakob haters twisting themselves in knots to make up excuses for Kerr. Kerr was the better guy THE DAY of the WC final. He’s obviously not better than Jakob. Kerr’s overall record vs Jakob or Nuguse proves this.
The overall record doesn't count in a world championship final. Jakob either wins the race or he doesn't. He didn't. None of his other wins removes that loss or compensates for it, despite the increasingly desperate arguments of his fans.
I believe ingebrigtsen took the lead at 500m in Budapest…so yes, now Kerr knows what it’s like.
What does this matter? Would Jakob have beaten Kerr in Budapest if he hadn't taken the lead?
Kerr is clearly the best miler in the world other than Jakob, and a threat to Jakob in a championship race whether Jakob is sick or not. Nguse pipping Kerr today is like Don Paige pipping Coe in a race post Moscow. Pretty meaningless really. This was the best Nguse against a Kerr who has probably been partying for a week, as well as giving a thousand interviews and the like. And he was lucky to win. Katir is clearly no longer a factor at 1500.
You're right. The way Nuguse went about this race was sneaky and underhanded. And as you mention, lucky. What fortune for him to end up just behind the leader in the final straight of a race, swept by the winds of chance!
Before passing Kerr, (which in my opinion he should not have done in any case--show some respect to the world champion!), he should have cleared his throat and said loudly and clearly "On your left!" It's basic etiquette.

Who is Nguse?
Come on. For a guy who thinks the name of the '76 double Olympic champ is Juan Torena, Nguse is a really good attempt. Give credit where credit is due.
