You don't piss in a literal jar for these things and they take the sample immediately and refrigerate it/keep it in temperature control (or are meant to anyway, see Diane Modahl and I wouldn't be surprised if this happens now in some areas also). It's just an illustration for the podcast i.e. clickbait. Images are powerful and obviously posting a photo of piss has generated some interest!
Looking like some ripe apple juice. In all seriousness, Des posted a jar of her piss as a “promo” for her podcast episode with Kara Goucher discussing how athlete drug tests work. Very interesting to hear it from an elite athlete’s side. But was the photo too far/too much clickbait? Doesn’t seem outlandish to me but maybe a bit jarring (pun intended) Discus.
Is this what former athletes now do to stay relevant?
You think Des Linden is a “former” athlete and/or isn’t relevant? She was in the top 20 at Boston and ran sub-2:30, and is currently the 16th-fastest qualifier for the 2024 Olympic trials.

Tough crowd.
She is 40 years old and definitely seen her best days. 20th at Boston is not a bragging point. She is not the 16th fastest time on a record setting course. I believe you are looking at her Boston time
From the color of the urine in that photo, I'd say the provider must be in serious, and I do mean serious, training for the Kidney Stone Half Marathon. Racing for the proverbial brass ring is painful enough, and pain tolerance is a relative thing, but...

Absolutely incorrect. Urine samples are not kept refrigerated at any point from the time the sample is provided until it arrives at the lab.
