This appears to be what happened and looking at the timeline of when they stopped following each other on social media/deleted all their pictures, it was right after USAs.
She actually seemed very happy in her interviews after the 1500, but he didn’t even make the final in the 800 at USAs, I believe he was DFL in the semi (he made the WC team last year). After the USA meet, the story started about her skipping the WC.
They are still in the Kersee training group together and that can’t be a good environment. Not to even mention the whole Bobby situation.
Holy crap, things make much more sense when you look at it like this.
According to a poster further up in the thread, Miller was likely the reason why she moved to Kersee
Now that they have seemingly broken up, she is in the same training environment with her ex, she probably had to move out and find a new living situation (I assume they lived together), and who knows what else.
I've seen a lot of people commenting on this, but Kersee is a unique coach in that he demands nearly total control over an athletes competitive schedule and training. Whereas most professional coaches are more aides than anything else, Bobby controls all. The idea is that if you trust him to control your career, he will guide you to greatness. Does it work? It's up for debate at times but objectively, I think his record speaks for itself.
That said, there are definitely some mind games going on in that camp. I expect Mu to stay with Kersee and retire from athletics after Paris. I would be very, very, very surprised to see her still in the sport after next year's Olympics.
Ahhh...
Finally a post that makes sense, THANK YOU!
A lot of bashing and blame going here against BK. At the elite level the athlete is very much responsible for what he or she does. Yes, BK is a demanding coach, but at the same time he's very in tune with his athletes and their capabilities. If Mu is going through off-track issues there's not much BK can do outside of supporting her and doing all he can do to prepare her. She's the one that needs to "buy in" to what he's doing, not the other way around. With regard to his knowledge about the 800/1500, he has MANY friends/collogues who are well versed in this area and are advising him. BK isn't just making up workouts, he isn't stupid. Mu needs to get her mind right if she's going to be successful with ANY coach.

"Bobby Kersee played a significant role in the most decorated American Olympic track and field athlete of all time in Allyson Felix, along with heptathlon world record holder Jackie Joyner-Kersee’s success. His consistency is legendary, bringing his athletes at least one gold medal in 10 consecutive Summer Olympics. Guiding his athletes to more than 50 Olympic and World Championship medals over the years, Kersee remains an influential figure in the sport".
Again, I ask, AND YOU ARE?
Please list if you can, your credentials and or achievements as well as world class coaching experience so we can justify and or validate your insightful point of view on this subject. IMO, you sound like a Monday morning armchair quarterback chuckin' peanuts from the peanut gallery. This isn't Bobby's first rodeo, and Mu isn't the first athlete that BK has coached...Win, Lose, or Draw. Reading the above USATF quote, I'm gonna guess BK has a good idea of what's going on more than you, me, or anyone else.
Stay in your lane! You're in WAY over your head!
Being a decorated coach doesn't make you immune from making mistakes. Kersee has done incredible things, I am not denying that. Definitely an all time great. I am only critiquing one particular thing he did that I personally think wasn't the best move.
Also, since he's so above criticism, would you remind me how many medals his team brought home this year while coaching some of the best athletes in the world?
He's certainly not above criticism, and he's not perfect, and he knows this. Unless I missed something, did BK recruit Mu and promise her she would be the world champ in the 1500m this year? I'm guessing no. With regard to his current athlete's in the WC's, one (SML) is the current world record holder and Olympic champ is injured and the other (Mu) is the defending Olympic champ and was the reigning world champ, and she underperformed. Yep, that happens in elite athletics.

Friend, you are way too overinvested here. No, a coach can't magically make his athlete have a good attitude. The thesis of the post was thar his comments and holding her out of races was not conducive to breaking her of her fear of racing. Nobody is saying BK is a bad coach in general. If you want to spam the thread address the argument.
Kersee telling the world Athing may not run world's is exactly what a coach should NOT do with a race shy athlete. It's very clear Mu was very nervous and afraid to lose this year. Understandable, the pressure is high.
Then your coach says that you may not even show, putting a spotlight on her lack of excitement to compete and leading to a ton of (justified) criticism.
The correct way to handle this was to have her run a few low key races, easy wins to nuild confidence. Give her 1 big race to test herself then go to worlds.
If you are afraid of something, hiding from it won't take the fear away. Facing your fear will.
And you are???

Victor Conte says that Jackie Joyner-Kersee tested positive for illegal drug use in advance of the 1988 Summer Olympics, but that it was covered up by the U....

Friend?
I wasn't aware that you are working on a "thesis" for a PhD. Good Luck! Anyway, does Mu have a "Fear" of racing? I didn't hear about this. Do you have coaching experience with elite athletes that fear racing? Or perhaps you are or have been an elite athlete who was afraid to race? if so, please share some insight with us and how you managed it. With regard to "Nobody is saying BK is a bad coach in general", you need to go back through the past posts and re-evaluate. My point is (or thesis), is that many people are blaming BK for Mu's performance or lack of, and that Mu herself needs to be equally if not more accountable. To blame and bash a renowned coach without a full understanding of the situation is simple minded.
