It always amazes me when people say they will improve your mechanics by changing your technique of running. Which is more important -- improving mechanics or improving running economoy. What studies have shown the Pose method leads to lowering of the energy expenditure of running? Usually when a coach or some scientist says I am going to change your mechanics (or running technique), what they usually mean is I am going to make you run like I think you should look when you run (whether or not it leads to better economy). Some people look pretty bad and are very economical while others look real pretty and have poor economy. Gotta prove that changing technique really changes the cost of running -- just saying this mechanics change led to faster times is worthless because maybe the time spent learning the new technique was also a time of getting in better shape and that led to improved performance.
