We've merged two threads on this topic into 1. Habs started it 1st so he gets the title. The other thread started by letsrun was called, "Noah Lyles calls out Rojo after winning men's 100m: "And for your friend there, how many Olympic medals am I going to win now?""
Say what you want about Rojo but it led to some interesting points from MJ and Noah and a bit of fun too. I liked that he didn't rollover either when Lyles shot at him.
"And, for your friend there... How many Olympic gold medals am I gonna win now?"

Rojo is an idiot. He's great for the sport unless the athlete is someone other than a skinny-legged distance weirdo. No actual athlete -- read: sprinter or jumper -- respects that pimply clown and rightfully so.

I think rojo is an a$hole like most of you, but this scenario isn’t what “roasting” means.
Are you saying you think Rojo is an a$$hole and most of us are also OR are you saying you think Rojo is an a$$hole and most of us also think that, or both?
Overall maybe a little bold, but a good take from Rojo. It’s not like Lyles is Bolt where he’s winning by 8M, so getting the gold is really tough.
Although, I don’t think Knighton hasn’t has come close to 19.49 in over a year.
I do think Lyles will win at least one gold next year, especially after yesterday. I had my doubts before the 100M final.
Yes Knighton hasn't got close to it for a while but it took Bolt a long time as well. After running 20.13 in 2003 and 19,.93 in 2004, he didn't break 19.90 until 2007 when he won his 1st medal (silver). He became a legen in 2008.
Who is more likely to become a LEGEND in my opinion? Knighton or Lyles? I've always said Knighton.

It might be Knighton just because LA is more within his prime. But Knighton is never gonna be a legend if he stinks at the 100. Lyles has now shown more than Knighton ever has at the premium sprint distance.
Looks like rojo was giddy from the fact that Lyles knew who he was.
You mean one of the only media influencers in the sport of track and field? At least Rojo (and the podcast) are talking about these guys, know the sport, and care enough about it to pontificate on who might win a medal! How many other sports podcasts had a segment on lyles prior to Worlds? More talk, and speculation, and publicity all around is good for the sport. And brojos have been doing their share for a while!

I can't imagine how unfulfilling your life would have to be in order to be influenced in any way by something Rojo says, unless it's about how to inherit money for your Dad to subsidize a failing lifestyle business.

I mean Noah was obviously influenced by it to bring it up at the press conference. You and I are both posting on his site right? You seem to have been influenced enough to have a negative opinion of Rojo as well. So looks like his influence is felt in many ways.

There was a significant tailwind that was not picked up by the wind gauge in that race when he ran 19.49. It’s why everyone ran about 0.3s faster than they had been at that point.
