IF you had experience identifying people who are not telling the truth, you could see that when she says, as though it has been rehearsed 100 times, “even though I didn’t do anything,” she is engaging in deception. She is feeling shame and guilt because she probably wasn’t raised to lie and lie and lie the way she has been carrying on for quite some time now. It eats away at her and she confesses to it.
Then let’s hear yours. I challenge you to explain:
1) Why did Shelby refuse to wear super shoes if she’s the type of person who would use drugs?
2) Why would Shelby refuse to say she was guilty even if a confession would allow her to compete at the 2024 Olympics?

YOU make an incorrect assumption about my experience. The guilt she feels is because she was not more careful with what foods and supplements she put in her body. She didn’t cheat.

This isn’t even remotely close to true. The AIU will dig in their heels even when the preponderance of evidence shows they are wrong. They are humans and have their own biases. They don’t care about being right. They care about being relevant.
She is innocent and is being roundly savaged by the LRC trolls. It has to be a very strange feeling to be wrongly accused and yet still hold on for vindication after a long ban.
How many articles about this drug cheat do we have to endure? How many are written about other runners serving bans? Why is her story so important? Why are these poor me articles released always before a major championship?

Since Shelby got busted, Karissa Schweizer hasn't come close to the 5000m times she ran with training partner Houlihan. Makes me think she was doing the same thing and then was forced to stop, so she wouldn't get banned.

1) Likely because she tried them in training, and found no benefit.
2) Likely for PR reasons, so her most faithful followers can claim she didn't cheat. Possibly also hoping that some will actually fall for that burrito joke.

I don’t think any of us will ever know for sure whether she did it or not. Only she knows that.
I am a little surprised by those who say the article was poorly written, although I do think they could’ve interviewed more people who are opposed to Shelby (they mostly just interviewed her friends and supporters). I believe the one person they sought out was also discredited elsewhere (Dr. Ayotte?).
Good article, very in depth. The details of how this impacted her life and the fact that she even rejected the new shoes has convinced me that she's telling the truth no matter how improbable.

It's ridiculous that they didn't interview more people. You don't think the Washington Post couldn't have found someone to explain the test results? No one to explain that the nandrolone clearly came from an artificial source because the chemical isotopes don't match animal sources?
The most likely case IMHO is that it was either in some supplement (i.e., oral delivery) or she was microdosing and got caught.

Shelby not confessing isn't just about herself. She'd have to give up or at least implicate everyone around her.
