Ben Bruce, Ben True, Scott Fauble, Garrett Heath, Lopez Lomong never officially retired
Fauble's been top American the last 3 major marathon's he's run. Still consistent and consistently good (at least by American standards). I feel like he's pretty out of place on this list.
Surprised no one's mentioned Hannah Cunliffe yet. Per her instagram she raced this year but definitely needs to hang it up. #HisTiming is not lining up well with Worlds or the Olympics.
Anyone knows where is Dafne Schippers? If not, put her on the list!
She will be working for Dutch national TV in Budapest. In addition to her back issue he got inflammated achilles tendons. She still hopes to make Paris though.
Een waslijst aan blessures ten spijt geeft Dafne Schippers niet op. De Spelen van Parijs zijn haar ultieme doel. Bij de komende WK atletiek doet ze bij de NOS dienst als analist.
Not lived up to HIS high school career...... singular pronoun needed
"He's more in the category of someone who has not (yet) lived up to their HS career"
"Their" is referring to "Category of someone", which is a group of people that includes Drew Hunter, not just Drew Hunter. It also includes women. "Their" is the correct word to use in both cases.
Edit: Actually, I think since "Category of someone" is singular, saying "his" could be correct, it would just imply that the group was only dudes. Since the group actually includes women too, the reason "their" is correct here is because "someone" is gender neutral.
Just stop. You're wrong and making a fool of yourself by incorrectly pontificating on it. It's singular and the correct word is "his." True, it is no longer politically correct (I suppose) to use the masculine form of singular, hence you'll see people say "his or her" or even "their." But "their" isn't grammatically correct. Btw, if it were plural, it would be "have not" and not "has not.".
In 2023 and 2024, my goal is to return to competition, including racing my first marathon, qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Trials, and setting additional Masters records.
