That was the decision that did in Solinsky as well, getting a career year and then upping the mileage instead of gradually improving the paces or even standing pat and seeing what more experience and confidence brought him.
If he can continue to be pain-free as he is now and get back to dry land training sometime this month (August), no reason not to run the 3k or 5k (whatever is on the schedule) at the Pre Classic come mid-September. If he is over the injury and in somewhat decent shape by then, he may be contractually obligated to do so.
You are forgetting that this year, Pre is the DL final. That means that only the top 10 in DL points get to run at Pre. Since Fisher has no DL points this year, he's unlikely to end the season in the top 10.
Klecker, at 11th, is currently the highest ranked American. (WK is 16th.)
Yes, correct.
However, there will be non-DL races like the International Mile that Grant could jump into if he's not eligible for the DL 5k final.
Nike could simple schedule a men's 2-Mile race . . . even a 10k like the one where Rupp ran his AR . . . with Grant as one of the featured competitors.
According to his Instagram story earlier, he's going to St. Moritz tomorrow. Next Diamond League meet is Aug. 31 in Zurich. Any chance he's already decided Zurich is his next race, and he's staying there until the race?

100% agree.
Kids, all you need to do to improve is continue to do the training you've been doing and not get hurt. I did the same workouts from the previous year a few years in a row and improved a lot. 1:13:47 HM to 1:12:08 and 2:37 M to 2:32:58.
55 mpw, same workouts.
You do not need to increase volume or even the speed of your reps much. You get stronger.
No offense but why is anyone surprised/impressed by this?
He has only 1 job and he's doing what I would consider the bare minimum
I think that’s exactly the problem — no job or school. when running is all that is in their day it is very hard for the person to take off the proper time when injured. I think having vet school helped Muir and being pro runners has not helped gds justyn knight and maybe now GF.
