Wiley is by the far the most promising teenage US distance runner, looking forward to her Olympic debut next year.
1) Purrier
2) McGee
3) Wiley
Next year’s 1500 team for Paris.
1) Athing Mu
2) Nikki Hiltz
3) Sinclaire Johnson
Mu will attempt the 800/1500 double.
You bring up great points.
1) I didn’t think Mu was likely to stick around in 1500 more than one year. She’s not running it in World Champs. 2) Hiltz’s status is confusing, I assumed she was not competing non women’s division anymore.
3) Love seeing SJ do well, but she seems like she’s just not anymore. Maybe a comeback, combined with McGee’s age, could have her take #2 spot.
Also - your lack of faith in Purrier is disturbing. And you forgot teenage phenom, fastest US under 20 distance woman Addy Wiley

Yes let's just forget the person who won the trials - jerk!! Plus the person (SJ) who also beat her at the trials. Wiley has a great future, no doubt about that, but nothing says that other Americans (currently faster than her) can't also continue to get better. That is presuming that Mu won't contest the event - she would clearly be better than all of them a year down the line.
Hiltz is a fine runner, but she didn't grow up on a dairy farm, nor is she a mom.
It will be tough to make the US Oly team, let alone the finals.
Andrews, Hiltz, Johnson, Purrier, Maclean, Mackay, Cranny (unlikely to run the 1500m) have all gone sub 4. Add in Mu, McGee. Someone else might improve as well.
She has consolidated her 4:03 PR with a few 4:05s. If she bumps down to 3:59, she would really be in the hunt. As it is now, next year brings all the usual suspects back plus St Purrierre, a more serious Mu and perhaps Hurta-K/4:01 and even Cranny/3:59. That means 1 step at a time; qualify, make usatf final, make us team. Then worry about Olympics
Don’t disrespect Wiley like this. Sage Hurta-k ain’t close to being in her class.

How is Hiltz’s status confusing? Hiltz is a biological female who has always competed in the same division for any meaningful race and will continue to do so.

I think Purrier will be back in form by then too.
Andrew’s is not even a remote factor in the 1500. Never really was. She ran ONE sub 4 race - 2 YEARS ago. The field you mentioned and a few others that are rising up the ranks will make the team. I say Hiltz, Cranny and Mu
