That was the entry that stood out to me, far beyond anything else. By all indications she is DSD and ineligible without following the recent guidelines.

Getachew hasn't been as dominant as most of the other high profile DSD athletes. Perhaps her testosterone level isn't as naturally high as among others.

That's pure guesswork. But there have been differences with her. Getachew was all set to run the Tokyo 800 when she was pulled at the last minute, in some type of dispute between the two leading Ethiopian track and field factions.

Moraa running 400m in Monaco

Definitely looks like strategic protection for Keely. She races totally differently and more relaxed when the intimidating presence of Moraa is not a factor. Keely won't be reluctant to take the lead against Welteji.

The more I think about the Budapest final there's no reason Mu won't clear Moraa, as always, and set up a more calming race for Keely. Kersee watches the same races. He's not going to allow Mu to settle back as Moraa tries to slow the pace early on lap two. Moraa may be in for a bit of a shock as the strategy she has implemented throughout the summer is quickly nullified by Mu.

I can't see past the outcome where Tim front runs for 1480m just to be outkicked by Hocker. I'm sure Jakob is watching closely when CH shows everyone the solution to getting prime metal in Budapest.

The thing is without rabbits you need a Centro-style final lap to be in contention for gold. We know Hocker's got it. Maybe Garcia Romo. 1:46 800 isn't gonna cut it I'm afraid. We saw that in Eugene already.

He is not even in the level to beat someone like Reynold Cher0uiyot.
From his archives 2021/2022/2023 he don't have a single 1500m won in 3:34.

He is a 3:35 1500m runner.

I mean come on, he has run under 3:35 three times and run the equivalent in three mile races. His PR is 3:31 and he was 6th in the Olympics. Totally fair to say he’s not really a contender this year, but to say he’s a 3:35 guy is just blatantly false.

I have a feeling Hassan only does the 10 or the marathon
she wont hold up well in the 5k not with Kipyegon, Gudaf, Gidey and Chebet in the race.

I reckon the stranglehold kipyegon has on the 1500m is why Gudaf moved on to the 10k this year why race someone you've never ever beaten (even when they lose) one more time

Chebet didn't run the 10k at the Kenyan trials so her only option is the 5k

If Hocker can run under 3:32 it will be a great result a month out from Budapest. I think he’s shown ~3:32 fitness in his 3:34-3:35 fast-finish races this season, and he should be trending upward if he’s healthy. If he runs 3:31.9 and is buried back in 10th place behind a slew of 3:29s-3:31s, the takeaway should be that with his kick he’s about a second’s fitness away from being a WC finalist, which is a whole lot better than last year.

Nuguse should simply follow the leader and try to win in the final 100, unless he feels spectacular with 300 to go. Cheruiyot is going to be tough to beat, and there are a bunch of other guys who could steal Nuguse’s lunch if he falters.

Cheruiyot could “surprise” here with a decisive win. It was only 2 years ago that he’d just run 3:28.28 and was considered #1 in the world. Injury hampered him last year but this season looks much better: some quick 800s, easy win at the Kenyan Trials and already a 3:29.08 where he nearly caught Nuguse at the line. He’s only 27 years old.

Agree with all this. Hocker should essentially run the Nordas Oslo race. Get on the back-end of the fast group, pick off stragglers, close strongly the last 500-600. Hocker will be fully "back" if we see the extra gear, but in this fast a race (if it goes sub-3:30) with somewhat limited training that might not be there. But it should be there for the Heats at World if all goes well.

I agree on Nuguse, and I bet Mario approaches it the same way. I suspect Hoare might try to pass Tim or take over the lead before the final 100 if Tim runs the old playbook. But I don't think Tim would panic like he might've back in the day.

It'd certainly be fun if we see Tim try to race this like back in the day with him right on the pacemaker at 900 or 1000, when he drops off. If he does that, squeezes it down and wins by .5 or more, we might have to update our expectations accordingly. But if it's a close race with him and the OAC boys, I think the gap from Jakob to this group will have to be considered very large still.

Well, this DL 5000 may be a deciding factor for Hassan. She did run a great 10 and backed it up with a solid 1500 six weeks ago in Hengelo, so not sure why you think she can’t hold up in the 5000. It’s true that Faith may be unbeatable in that race too. Is is clear Kipyegon is going to double? No chance Hassan runs the marathon when she’s going to run another in Chicago so soon after. Also, I can’t imagine Hassan only runs one event in Budapest.

What I like about Hocker is he has very high goals for himself and isn’t afraid to let the public know that. He literally said on his last post race interview that he sees himself winning the world championships this year. Obviously very unlikely it will happen but this is the kind of mindset/confidence that is needed to get Americans middle distance runners on the podium.

I see him sitting in the back and kicking very hard at the end to run somewhere around 3:30.5-3:31. Wouldn’t shock me if he runs faster.

Yes she is doubling. Hassan is likely weighing 5 vs 15. The 1500 has more depth but the 5 has more high-end talent potentially.
