You would actually want to see a biological man break a women's world record? Are you nuts?
I rather see fast runners instead of slow runners
I pretty much watched all Caster’s race when she was running. Now I rarely watch the women 800m.
Only when Mu runs it. Watching a 1:59 800m is as exciting as watching grass grow. I used to run 1:59 in reps.
Don’t pretend that it’s fun to watch a 1:59
You're lying. If all you care about is seeing the fastest times in the 800, you wouldn't be watching a women's races at all, even if Semenya was in it. You would only watch professional men's races. Because Semenya's best 800 time can't even win a good high school boys race.
So stop with your stupid posts about you pretending to want to see a slow biological male beat women.
5α-Reductase 2 deficiency (5αR2D) is an autosomal recessive condition caused by a mutation in SRD5A2, a gene encoding the enzyme 5α-reductase type 2(5αR2). The condition is rare, affects only genetic males, and has a broad spectrum.
Wikipedia is dead wrong in stating that 5-ARD2 "affects only genetic males."
The enzyme deficiency known as 5-ARD2, and the gene mutations that cause it, occur in females just as often as in males. It's just that in females, 5-ARD2 does not affect sex development or have any other physical effects that are as glaringly obvious as the anatomical differences the condition causes in males.
In males, 5-ARD2 interferes with the normal prenatal development of the penis and prostate, and impedes the development of male-typical hirsutism in and after purberty of adolescence. Apart from that, males with 5-ARD2 are healthy "typical" males, as their enzyme deficiency causes no other physical abnormalities or ongoing health problems. They go through male mini puberty of infancy and male puberty of adolescence like other males, and in the process they acquire the whole range of physical attributes that give males as a group a marked advantage over females in sports.
If it were accurate, the Wikipedia entry would say something alongs the lines of:
5-ARD2 causes a difference/disorder of sex development or DSD only in males.
Instead of referring to Semenya's condition as just plain 5-ARD2 and calling it a DSD, it would be more accurate to call Semenya's condition XY 5-ARD2 and to specify that it's a difference/disorder of male sex development or DMSD.
At any rate, I agree that the MSM reporting about Semeny and other DMSD athletes in women's sports is shameful. They are not "female athletes with naturally high testosterone" they way they are framed. They are male athletes with male levels of testosterone because they have functioning male gonads.
It says the condition only affects genetic males. In females 5-ARD is not a condition because as you said it doesn't not affect sex development in females.
5-alpha reductase deficiency is a condition that affects male sexual development before birth and during puberty. People with this condition are genetically male, with one X and one Y chromosome in each cell, and they have male gonads (testes)
Huh? Just because the enzyme deficiency known as 5-ARD2 does not affect sex development of females like it affects male sex development does not mean this enzyme deficiency, and the genetic mutations that cause it, don't occur in females and have no effects in females. Fact is, we don't know.
5-ARD2 has effects on male sex development that are so large, dramatic and visible to the eye that they are glaringly obvious. Morover, the impact that 5-ARD2 has on male sex development is of such social significance for affected males in certain areas of life - such as self-concept, self-esteem, sex classifaction, sports category, sexual orienation, sexual relations, marriage laws, having their own children, property & title inheritance, military service, possibility of becoming priests or imams, sex roles, etc - that the condition in males has been studied in depth and at length by people in many different fields.
But just because this enzyme deficiency doesn't have the same kind and size of impact on females doesn't mean it has no impacts at all. We just don't know. Because no one has looked into the possible impacts of 5-ARD2 on females who have it.
Even if 5-ARD2 has no impact on female humans at all, it's erroneous to claim that only males have this enzyme deficiency. The deficiency and the genetic mutations that cause it occur in both sexes with the same prevalence. It's just that it only causes a DSD in males.

Good for Semenya. Society does owe her a better explanation for why it is fair that one who is born into a largely binary society and grows up with everyone around reasonably assuming and she herself identifying as a woman should now be forced to undergo hormone therapy that will surely render her uncompetitive as opposed to just being allowed to participate as a naturally lucky woman.
WA does not believe nor can it openly say “it’s because you are a man”, so I hope the idiots around here don’t chime the usual.
This did make me laugh. A female athlete with testes and an entirely male physiology would have to be very lucky indeed. "This cheetah is a naturally lucky greyhound, let it race you bigot"

Good summary of the core issue behind it being or not being discrimination.
Will current society norms and laws overrule sports rules?
I have a horrible feeling that they will as this is a European matter where the new norms have been far more embraced.

What authority does the ECHR have over Switzerland? I'm guessing zero. This changes nothing.
Massive jurisdiction over human rights matters;read the press release.
I did. Where does it say that the government of a sovreign nation is beholden to an international group that has no authority or enforcement mechanism?

It does not use your construction but what it did was decide they had jurisdiction and indeed acted on such; so a settled matter in this regards.
Unfortunately, Mister Oh Lord Sir Your Majesty Sebastian Coe does not care. He acts like a dictator, doesn't want competitors for his "Apples of his eyes" poor girls Hodgkinson and Muir... What would we expect from a bloody Tory inspired by Margaret Thatcher?

To be a great leader like anyone inspired by Thatcher. We would still have scores of coal mines if she had not acted or British Leyland punting out rotting cars that were not wanted.

It's unfair because he's not a woman. Semenya has 46xy, which means he has an SRY gene (which determines male sexual development) and male gonads.
In the words of the great Austin Powers, "that ain't no woman, its a maaan, man."
The 46,XY differences of sex development (46,XY DSD) can result either from decreased synthesis of testosterone and/or DHT or from impairment of androgen action. 46,XY DSD are characterized by micropenis, atypical or female e...

Switzerland chose in the sixties to join the Council of Europe that forms the jurisdiction of the ECHR. You may have a point that Switzerland as a sovereign non-EU state can always choose to not abide but given that it benefits from the European single market and other European relationships, it is unlikely that it wouldn’t unless it views some judgment as an existential crisis; plus the rest of the world can always choose to relocate CAS if they view Switzerland as uncooperative or arbitrary.

If CAS did move would a Euro Athlete argue that the appeal process would not comply with EHRA and thus the process would not comply with EHRA and thus they could apply to EHRC before the case went to CAS.
Human rights trumps sport rules. This is good but the appeals will take too long.
But sex matters in human rights. Especially where sports are concerned.
Per the sports rules you portray as at odds with human rights, a separate, protected category of competition was created for women and girls so that in sports the half of the human race who happen to be female get the same general level and type of human rights as males get.
When males are allowed into the sports division created for females for any reason, it means diminishing the human rights of female athletes in order to give some male athletes extra rights - extra rights that aren't granted to males with any other developmental or health conditions.
In my view, the human rights of athletes with differences/disorders of male sex development like Caster Semenya don't trump the human rights of female athletes. Or the human rights other male athletes who might like to compete in the female category because it would give them a far greater chance at gold and glory, but who can't do that because they don't have DSMDs like Semenya, Niyonsaba, Wambui, Mboma and others do.
