Fact is Valby got a title because the Champion was sick. Fact is Tuohy passed Valby like she was standing still at regionals after doubling. Fact is Valby never beat Tuohy.
Cmon sick? From what source ? So sick of the excuses
Really? what's her pr - 15:20? Most ran much slower than their pr tonight.
Per Daniels temperature adjustment, tonight Henes ran very close to her earlier 14:54 in Walnut, CA, and Valby’s 15:30 in Austin converts to a sub-15 with the temp adjustment.
You're playing games with the temp adjustments. Fact is, had the runners listed below entered the Austin 5k with fresh legs, Valby wouldn't have placed in the top 5.
If I use that adjustment there were 7 ladies in NCAA at 15:20 or faster, not including Tuohy or anyone from AL. Seems dubious.
Agreed. That's the first thing I thought of. Blatantly ridiculous. I know Maatoug finished 5th in 15:48 in her second race ever at 5000. Temperature adjusting her below 15:20 is ludicrous.
another lap and she would have caught morgan too!!! nontheless amazing!!
No she wouldn't
Yes she would. 1 second gap only.
Tuohy in bell was 2 seconds behind Kelati then at the finish she was 1 second ahead of Kelati. So yea another lap and she would catch Morgan too, Morgan ran 19s last 100, Tuohy ran 15s.
The people who are really good don't complete college and go pro. Many people were saying Touhy should not complete last year at NC State now this is no longer discussed.

I am wondering if the USATF can replace one of the qualifiers for 5,000 with Katelyn Tuohy. I think countries like Ethiopia have done this with Bekele and Kenya has also done this. I would hope that the runner being replaced would be understanding.
Tuohy dug deep on that last lap to catch Weini Kelati with her 32.1s last lap, only Cranny was faster than her on the last lap!
Katelyn was down 8 behind Kelati with four laps to go ... amazing last mile!
what this tells me is that Tuohy didn't go quite as deep as the other women in the race up to that point
she prob could have run at least 5-10 seconds faster overall if she didn't have that much gas in reserves waiting for the final kick
Idk her kick was really good but it wasn't a long drive, really just the final lap in 67s. Rogers, Monson ran 67s. Cranny 65s. So, she is in good company but she needs to do that off a hotter pace to make the team.
Also, some of the other runners got burned by sticking with Monson and blew themselves up. Like Morgan, her final lap was 78s.
Shes 21 and already running like this without altitude pro training... good luck to the pros when she turns pro and trains altitude.. i mean look at kriss gear.
...So the same age as Mu, America's greatest mid distance runner and Olympic Gold medal champion who just got a Silver at USATF Championships in an off event that she had only competed in one other time ever??
...I'm sure the Pros like Mu are quaking in their vaporfly's in utter fear of this seventh place finisher!

Your whole family's bank account got embarrassed by Tuohy's NIL deals. Adidas, Ollipop, summer camps and more will be coming. Stay tuned.
If she keeps running 4:11s and 15:15s that NIL money is going to dry up fast. NIL money is given to runners who produce. KT hasn't produced in quite a while.
Pro runners call this a JV kick. Tuohy embarrassed herself over her past 4 races. Lost-lost-DNS-JV
Oh c’mon, that’s too harsh. The point is that she’s not yet a pro and at the end of this long season she’s certainly not capable of hanging with Monson and Cranny. Yes, if she tried she would have blown up. I didn’t see what was going on behind the lead pack, so maybe there was an opportunity for her to set a bit faster pace all along and not rely on the “JV” kick to pick up places at the end, but it sounds like she was out all alone. In the end she summed up her performance well, it was fair. Nothing terrible, but not spectacular either. Nothing transpired to suggest she can’t eventually develop into another Monson when she lives and trains like a pro. Maybe she will and maybe she won’t, but last night was ok.

As much as Tuohy wants to return to XC, if she really wants a shot at the Olympic team she should turn pro now and start training at altitude in a pro environment. Something clearly went wrong during outdoors and it doesn't sound like they even really know what (or she is not saying).
