Jamin is 100% wrong here. The 1500m has always been considered the most prestigious track event along with the 100m. It was always known as the 'blue ribband' event, and is why you have 'The Dream Mile' and never 'The Dream 5000m'. The top 1500m guys have always been more famous to the public than the top 5000 or 10000 guys.

I think his thoughts on the events are born of self preservation, whether he knows it or not. he just wouldn't be good enough in the 5000, so the effort to move up just wouldn't be worth it.

Maybe not now, but when he ran 13:01 back in 2019, he should have moved up. The wheels were coming off even back then. Obviously an all-time great 1500 guy, but there was untapped potential in the 5k

Except at this years USA 1500m final, where they half cut to shot put in the middle of a 3 and half minute race.

Yes. He can move up or become an analyst. No place for Centro at 1500 or even mile. Maybe give 3k a shot next year or in Europe this summer? I hope so.

there is no glamour or hype among any middle distance. it's all about the 100m and the marathon. with that said, even the marathon is a low level pleb event compared to the 100m. how many people knew who haile geb was when he was the record holder? it wasn't until nike got behind kipchoge and they did the whole vaporfly/alphafly sub2 thing before anyone cared.

Centro says he’ll never run 5k bc no glamour or hype. Do not worry centro, there’s no glamour in 10th place either.

Purists love the 5000 and 10000.

Joe Hamburger types eat up the shorter events. Fits their attention span, lol.
