I don't get it. Trotting out a bunch of pros and foreign ringers does nothing for me, for track/xc, or for graduating US High School athletes. What people want to see is the top former HSers from the past 2-4 years battling each other.
Last year was excellent. But who is going to be excited to see Doris the Pro come and dust everyone at NCAA? WHo will remember the race even 5 minutes after it ends?
I don't understand the reactions. This has been going on since Rono, UTEP w/Nyambui, Ondeike, Kipyego, Kurgat, Cheserek, Chelangat so why the outrage now.
This lady will be good, but the 14:40 was in a short road 5k, so she'll just be another competitor w/ Valby and Touhy, not a lock for the win.
Why do you say it is short? The mens times seem pretty in line with what you would expect. She beat Brenda Chebet, a 4:01 runner, and 5 seconds behind Mekides Abebe has run 8:56 in the steeple and beaten Kelati over 5k.
I do agree she is basically a pro coming to the NCAA at an age US students are seniors.

But you'll get it if you consider the perspective of the coaches, who would like to retain their jobs, receive pay raises, earn contractual bonuses, win titles at the conference, regional and national level, receive personal accolades, score points toward the Director's Cup for their athletic department, be offered higher paying jobs elsewhere, etc.
The job of an NCAA Cross Country Coach is not to being excitement to the fans or to provide races that people will remember for years to come.
It is not their job to reward the best American high schoolers, or to prepare a few Americans to maybe, possibly have a chance to run post-collegiately, or to coach the next decent American marathoner, etc.
You must have failed 2nd grade arithmetic. Texas women won the track title. What percentage of their points came from foreigners? NC State won XC. What percentage of their points came from foreigners? NAU men won XC? How many foreigners in their top 7? You are clueless.

Not sure how many points Univ. of Texas foreigners scored on the NCAA-winning team, but of the current roster of 39 ladies, only 4 are foreigners.

I have difficulty rationalizing the 9:35 3000s (at altitude so maybe 9:20 at sea level?) with the 14:40 5K. I think she also served as a pacer in Doha for a 3000s steeple so her form over the barriers must be ok. But maybe I am missing something. In any case I'd agree she is very good - the question is whether she might win NCAA XC by 20 seconds or not.
Great. Cross country season is about to start and the Tuohyites have their next target. How long until the drug accusations start? Get ready for another fun-filled fall of lies and uncredible accusations about Valby, Wiley, Cook, Hughes, Lemngole, and anyone else who beats their "princess."
I'd LOVE to see Tyynismaa beat her and watch the Tuohyites eat one of their own. I would not be surprised if it happens considering the way they both performed at NCAA Outdoors.

Tuohy has only run 15:14? I thought she ran 15:03 or so.
It is a loophole but it clearly stretches the rules. If people can complain about BYU then they definitely should complain about this. I said this last year, and the years before that.

This situation does not even hold a candle to BYU, they get to enhance themselves knocking doors and preaching.
A clear advantage over bringing in a matured and established elite, such as this situation.
Apparently we all see it that way. It's not an apples to apples comparison bro.

That was ONE GUY on this forum making drug accusations. Not all Tuohy fans.
No it wasn't. Whether it is Wiley or Cook or valby or others, the Tuohy fans try to destroy them. These boards have improved a bit now that Tuohy is on her decline.
