Cricket is the 2nd or 3rd most popular sport on the planet. So of course they'd have security. Track is way down the list. I love the sport but it's not breaking any attendance or viewership records.
Just some ideological idiots who are hurting their own cause by being stupid, just like the people throwing stuff on paintings at museums, gluing themselves to public places and similar stunts.
However, as an older guy, I'd say these idiots are at least an improvement over the ideological idiots of the 70s like the Baader Meinhof Gang, Symbionese Liberation Army etc. who killed and robbed people.
Unrelated but an official in the discus almost got killed by one of Stalhs tosses
Do you remember which throw or when it was on a broadcast?
It was his final throw, and it actually touched the official. I believe they counted it as a scratch (because it glanced the official?) the announcing was a bit confusing, so I'm not sure exactly what happened.
BTW, this protesters may very well have cost an athlete a worlds qualifier. Would be rough if it were the cas
What a bunch of absolute losers. Throw these scumbags in prison if you want to prevent garbage like this. Imagine this happening on the final lap of a World Championship.
yeah interfering with a track meet with 5 fans in it deserves jail time........ only the LR losers would post this
I agree but in order for a protest to be impactful, it has to be disruptive.
There are all sorts of respectful means to promote a viewpoint: advertising in apps, newspapers, radio, magazines; blog posts; websites; flyers; meetups; conferences; writing books; etc.

The reality is that media rhetoric has convinced a large number of people that the world is ending at some point within our lifetimes. As such, these people see themselves as a modern day MLK and believe they’re justified in doing anything to disrupt people’s lives. Ultimately, it’s incredibly selfish and arrogant, a form of attention seeking that they get away with because the media and those on the left generally condone it.
I find it’s always the same demographic doing these things- mostly white social justice types who have aged out of the university campus activist scene and are desperate to stay relevant.
Sure, climate change is happening, the world is warmer than it was 50 years ago, which has some bad consequences for some areas and some good/benign ones for other areas. But we have no idea what the world will look like in 50 years. The scientific consensus changes all the time, as it should. Using some hypothetical impending apocalypse as justification for potentially harming (or even just annoying) strangers is ridiculously self centered.
My climate change shouting neighbor also sets off fireworks in the middle of the night and runs his gas powered lawn mower and other lawn care equipment at all kinds of odd hours. That’s the kind of fraud and fake liberal that does these things;
