Neither of the guys are at that high of a level. I never understood why middling athletes traveled so far for competition if they're not at the elite level. It seems like a money grab for the meet. The same thing happens in other sports. Club soccer might be the worst. Mediocre teams traveling across the country for games.
Bowling Green, where the Ohio guy is going, doesn't even have a track team - cross country only.
Let's not forget the Nike mile champ Heideshch at his state meet last year. He pushed a guy who retaliated by punching him in the head and Heidesch rolled 50 meters down the track.

And then got to run the race solo, and win, because he wasn't found to be at fault. They're good friends by the way....but you keep that high drama going. hahahaha
One is from Michigan and the other is from Ohio. Go figure. Looks like someone is still a little butthurt after the thumping UM put on OSU in Columbus in November.

I looked it up one is going to Bowling Green and the other is going to Wayne State. If i was their coach i would discipline them as soon as they step on campus.

Reminds me of an epic 800m Washington vs Oregon in Seattle early 90s. There was a lot of jostling going on during the race then on the homestretch with 50m to go someone from Oregon (can't remember who) bench pressed Mitch Leffler into the infield. He continued kicking and got back onto the track and they basically crossed the line tangled up. Washington had 3-4 1:49 guys at the time (that was a solid time in the 90s) and Oregon was similarly stacked. For about a minute it looked like there was going to be a big brawl then everyone got separated. I was sitting on the ground trying to find out what happened from one of my friends who was changing out of his spikes. An Oregon 800m dude walked by, gave him a priceless mean mug, and then walked on top of my friend's spikes. All we could do was laugh. There was some beef the next couple years between the two 800m teams and watching them match up was highly anticipated.
In the early 70s several of the track athletes in So Cal were Vietnam War veterans. I witnessed a 10K where a lapped runner, who did not move out to lane 3, was shoved onto the infield by the lead runner. Approximately, 120 yards behind the incident, a teammate of the abused runner picked up his pace. Everyone in the stadium knew the chase runner's intent. As he drew closer to his target, every eye in the stadium watched in anticipation. On the last lap, the runners were neck and neck. These two vets threw the hardest elbows and punches at each other that I've ever seen in a track or cross country race. Shortly after crossing the finish line, the chase runner/teammate threw the final punch. BTW - I can't remember who won the race.

The guy on the outside kept cutting in on the guy in the first lane, and shoved him off the track a couple of times, but the guy in the first lane kept getting back on the track and trying to protect his position.
The guy on the outside kept shoving him harder, the guy in the first lane shoved him back, perhaps a mistake, because then the guy on the outside knocked him down harder and off of the track.
In retrospect, perhaps the best option for the guy in lane one would have been to give up his position, drop back, lose a few seconds then try to work his way back up through the field.
This was definitely a DQ for the guy on the outside who kept forcing his way into lane one. I see
A DQ for the guy in lane one would be questionable though, as he was simply trying to protect his position, and his race was ruined at that point anyway.
Not having seen the full race, this is the most accurate assessment and it's crazy the outpouring of opinions thinking otherwise. I mean the situation is pretty black and white.
Some will claim that it is just normal racing in Europe.
It is, hold your own or don’t step on the track. None of this baby stuff if he push me it’s so unfair. It’s race, you get pushed, spiked and have to break stride to stay on your feet if you run in the pack because you wish to jog round and hard run your 200m/400m pace, hint try running hard from the start and harder at the end

Why do mid level kids spend all this money to go to these meets? Pretty simple to get the backpack. I know it sounds stupid but all these kids want and care about is the backpack and are willing to spend all this money to get one. And why do the parents go along with this? So they can brag to their friends yes little Tiffany and Skippy have qualified to go to Nationals
Can someone tell me why two seniors with 422/424 1600 pbs are even running HS nationals?
Because these "national championship" meets discovered there is a lot of money to be made from running a bajillion sub-elite heats filled with sub-elite runners with rich families who will pay any amount of money to be able to say their child "competed at nationals".
Plus, now that theres about 10 different "national championships" at the high school level, the fields for each of them are pretty watered down. Need to lower the standards to fill the heats.
