I feel sorry for Albuquerque. even The locals don’t like it.
Parts of it are nice. Parts of it are terrible. It is one of many locations where the future looks bleak without a major water project.
Actually, thanks in large part to the San Juan Chama Diversion Project, Albuquerque is better off than many other parts of the west when it comes to water resources. A lot of ground water levels are higher today in Albuquerque than they were in the 90s. That's not to say there aren't challenges, but there is no immediate need in Albuquerque the way there is in parts of Arizona and California.

I'm sorry. I thought the Rio Grande ran dry last year.
Franklin is in his mid-50's and needs to start thinking of how big the ole retirement account will be. Probably a smart financial move given ACC money is much better than MWC peanuts. I just went to the Lobo website and all the coaching contracts are on there. Jesus, he only made $128k. for all the success they have had at UNM that is just embarrassing for UNM. He'll double that in ACC.

It did, as it has in years before when there is a light snowpack in Colorado where the river starts and a dry spring. The surface water Albuquerque relies on is from the San Juan Chama Diversion Project and the rest mostly comes from the groundwater aquifer under the city. The aquifer is recharged by the Rio Grande, so years of bad water flow would eventually accumulate. But this year Colorado had a heavy snowpack and the river has been way higher than historic averages.
More likely the fact that the UNM athletic program has been in financial dire straights for years. Although they did finally finish their new athletic training facility and moved their athletes out of the tent.
Nah it would be for his contract $ not facilities. He had all he needed facility wise to produce elite collegiate distance runners in ABQ. Which he did.
Did you notice that there were not many hispanics on the NM team? A lot more brits.

This is a great move for him for all reasons noted acc, money, location. WHEn LV came to acc it was a commuter school w/ a basketball history. They are slowly but surely making improvement in football, academics and all sports. The long term vision is to become a true u, worthy of acc.
Like NM, it's a tough place to recruit US distance runners and now altitude won't be part of sales pitch. Perhaps more Brits lol.
Will be interesting who steps in for the Lobos, as they have a loaded women's team this fall to compete w/ OSU, Colorado and NC State.

Yes I know where Eric is coaching, read my post again, it says he is still on the Track Coaches list. This is an error and my point is U of L Athletics is not up to date with their own coaching changes.

yeah you have to consider that-he had a really good run with the Lobos but money talks-the MWC and the PAC are on shaky ground-the PAC is still trying to negotiate a new TV rights deal; San Diego State rumoured to be leaving MWC; ACC with respect to cash looking a lot better at least right now...
