Can coach JS provide more information about this guy as he seems to know most of the Nordic superstars including their training and lifestyle habits? Thank you.
Hi Ghost 1🖐I have of course seen his progression from some years ago. Early he was told to be someone special talented runner in Norway. He is "one out of a million" and not only a " training product" as many now tend to think when they haven't heard so much about him until now. Let's make it very clear, you don't run a 3:32 1500 if not very talented, no matter whatever the training method is........ 🖐🧙♂️🇸🇪🏃🇸🇪🧙♂️🖐
I saw an interview with Gjert (Ingebrigtsen), who is the coach of Nordås. He has focused a lot on 5-10k and maybe even Halfm. Now Gjert has convinced him to go down to 1500 and with great success: From 3:36 to 3:32. Gjert didn't state this specifically but I am pretty sure he is doing double threshold sessions just like Jakob/Filip/Henrik. Gjert now has more time to coach Nordås individually as he is not coaching his own kids anymore.
I think someone stated that while running 3:32 he was still in pretty heavy training, which means that if he tapers he might be able to run faster (not for sure). I expect great things.
This kind of training takes years on years and then the results will come.

Coach Wizard, you'll be happy to know I just had a kid win a state title in the 1600 on an average of maybe 10 miles per week. Lots of work at his individual perfect pace combined with the Valby/Cook protocol. No problems! BIG WIN
He is still 24. Turns 25 at Sept 30. Gjert Ingebrigtsen has converted him from a long distance runner to a 1500 guy. His goal at Bislett DL 15th is Henrik Ingebrigtsens PB 3.31.46. When he ran 3.32.39 he was still training pretty hard. But at Bislett - it is going to get fast - he will not match the best in the field, though he always finishes fast: T. Cheruiyot, J. Ingebrigtsen, Y. Nuguse, O. Hoare and J.Kerr. Weather forecast: 29 degrees and 1 m/sec wind. Promising.
Tim Hutchings made a derogatory comment about Nordas on the fast track video which showed him winning the 1500 meters a few days ago in France stating that the Norwegian really has a "poor style" not conducive to running fast (go to 9 mins in the video) but admitting that he's very strong. Do you think that his "technique" will hamper him in the future and that he will reach his ceiling quicker than other athletes, or possibly that it does not matter?
Ridiculous comment by Hutchings.
Sure, he's a little stiff in his shoulders, but you could pick fault with just about anyone's gait if you're going to be that particular.
